Trine 2 fit these nuts in yo mouth

this is a remake of the first game with a new roster, team creation, and a few minor additions. Still fun, but when you can get the first game for 3.99, I'd stick with that.

Not what I expected

fun with a friend & great moment-to-moment gameplay. Lots of potential for future content

Only downside is it's a $70 game that is constantly asking you to buy their expensive battlepass. booo.

had such a stigma towards this game because of its launch state & the bugs... but playing it for 2.99 after all the updates, and it honestly slaps. Super fun squad based combat. especially for the price. lots of customization & gameplay. highly recommend.

To preface, I have all the achievements in DS3, Sekiro, & Elden Ring. I've played hundreds of hours of DS2 and DS1. This is my only negative Fromsoft review:

TLDR;
Would I recommend this game to a friend: Absolutely not. You need to be an experienced souls player to even understand what's going on and be successful.
Would I recommend this game to an experienced souls player: No. The roguelite elements are too far & inbetween to make replays worth it, and just random enough to discourage any playstyle because it doesn't matter how good you are, just how good the items you get are.

Full Review:
The game lacks that classic fromsoft "i'll get 'em next time" vibe because of the randomness and roguelite elements they decided to implement. Worse though, is that they didn't even add a fun level of roguelite elements to keep things fresh & entertaining. The feeling of disappointment I got when I realized I'd just be running around modded Limgrave (that would only change every like 10 hours) was insane... Most of the bosses and enemies are not random enough to be interesting ... but just random enough to be annoying.

It's such a step in the wrong direction for fromsoft... it felt like a soulless (pun intended) stripped down version of something that could have been so great. I have no desire to play this game after my 50 hours which is INSANE because I am such a huge fan of the developer & franchise. It could MAYBE be redeemed with more content ... But I fear that they rested all their laurels on the combat system. It kind of feels like playing Borderlands or Destiny: flashy and fun ... but ultimately stripped down and husk-like. Fromsoft delivers magical experiences... not whatever this just was. Solid 4/10 or 5/10.

mainly bought this because I felt like I owed the dev $$$ for playing the flash version so much for free all throughout high school (got me through so many study halls and math classes) ... but it truly is a great remaster: from the graphics to the redone sound design, it's a great revisit to a classic flash game that nurtured my love for this genre

you DO know what the P stands for... Right? 😏

a no-brainer if you have someone to play with
