Okay like, I'm not sure how to explain this. I don't know if the experience you'll have with this game will match mine, but for me it was so special that I felt compelled to actually write a steam review which I've only done like once before a long time go and I don't even remember what for. This game gets me, its story and characters are silly and over the top and super angsty but I can't help but feel like these are emotions I've felt myself in my life as a creative. There's a speech Cleff makes in Episode 3 that just explained the creative fire so perfectly...and it was then I knew this game just understood it better than most others. If you don't get it, you probably won't get the same emotional connection I had with this game and that's fine, but if you do....man you feel understood.

I've seen a lot of criticisms for the game's story, and yeah there's a lot that doesn't get explained all the way, but I feel like the emotional arc of the characters is the more important aspect. If you get hung up on the logistics of a story I can see why you might not like this, but I wasn't so worried about why the Silence exist and more invested in Beat and Quaver's journeys as damaged people trying to find their way in a damaged world.

Looking at the game objectively, it's a really fun rhythm adventure game, it rarely sticks to just one concrete rhythm game and loves to mix different ones together into one wild adventure. The music is top notch garage indie, if you like Jet Set Radio or Bomb Rush Cyberfunk music you'll dig Unbeatable's soundtrack. The art is fantastic all the way. I was not expecting the game to be as funny as it was, devs who make heavy use of text boxes are gonna have to step their game up after this because it has the funniest text boxes I've ever seen, which I get sounds odd but if you played it you get it.

It's not often I like a game so much I want to actually try to 100% it. I'm likely going to do it with this game. If I had some critiques: the game *is* on the shorter end, which while I like that, I did want more of it in the end. Also, maybe this is because I was playing on Steam Deck but the performance wasn't the best, not so bad that it made it impossible to play but there were some obvious slowdowns and a few lengthy load times for what felt like shouldn't have been a long load time. But I also didn't tinker with the options all that much so maybe if I lowered some of them it would've improved, but again it wasn't enough to ruin my experience or make it unplayable.

I hope you give this game a chance, and I hope that by some miracle you have as meaningful of an experience as I did.
