Doom: TDA is awesome. It runs smooth and the action never stops. Worth the price.

First Impression as a VR Newcomer:

As a huge Alien fan, I surely was looking forward to this one. Overall, the first 105 mins were pretty good. The Aliens did scare the bejesus out of me, especially being new to VR. I'm just still blown away by how real it feels. I'm sure it will become more "normal" at some point. I hope not.

As far as Alien RI goes, no, it's not Alien Isolation, and it doesn't need to be. This is the Aliens version. Even though I do admit, maybe being able to hide once in a while would be a nice pace change. But ok, action shooter.

Pros so far:

- Sound and Atmosphere. Spot on. Definitely more of an Aliens vibe.

- Love all the tools you have and how they work.

- The aliens do look great when NOT close up. Crawling on the ceiling gave me almost a heart attack.

- Dig the story so far.

- Design-wise it really feels like you're in a James Cameron Aliens movie.

- Music is great.

Cons so far:

- Game is buggy. Devs, come on. We know xmas crunch, but do you PLAY YOUR OWN GAME? The game wouldn't reload a save 2-3 times. Meaning you have to quit SteamVR and restart. Not good.

- If it's not made for the PC, why are you selling it on Steam? They keep saying, "It is not supported," then make it a PS5 exclusive till you are ready. Come on.

- Textures are blurry. Supposed to look better on a PS5. Again, why sell it on steam then for us PC gamers if it aint ready? (which it clearly is not).

- Not a fan of the voiceovers or my character really.

- And my biggest complaint: if this is mainly an action shooter, why is the gun handling so bad? Just doesn't feel very good.

Sum: It's got potential. As an Alien fan, I can live with the negatives for now. No need to refund. I think once they optimize this for PCVR, tweak some mechanics, and fix bugs, this will be killer. My advice: if you're an Alien fan and don't mind spending 40 bucks, do it. The atmosphere alone is brutally scary (play at night).

If you're more of a casual fan and just looking for any VR title, maybe hold off for now until this game is fully PCVR supported.

To sum it up:

This is the official 4th movie we deserved but never got. The story and action set pieces are better than in the last 2 movies and the voice acting is top top top stuff. It's really one of the best games in a decade, IMO. Its got the indy humor, the drama and the adventure. Maybe my only tiny critic would be that the puzzles are too easy. But thats ok. Its a Thrill ride and you MUST play it.

Like so many, I too fell for the hype. But after realizing that this game is basically a scam - stopped playing.

The space "travel" are nothing more but closed up levels. You can't just really fly anywhere. The constant loading screens. The last Gen Character models, the lame dialog, the uninteresting story. The choices are also fake. It makes no difference what reply you really choose.

But mostly, Todd claimed "Be who you wanna be and go anywhere". You can't. The planets are empty. The outposts always look the the same. This game is designed in a way to fool the player in thinking. hes exploring. But its just all empty smoke.

On a Positive note: I do liked the guns and the gun play. I liked a few of the side missions. But thats it.

Personally, I'd would recommend NMS or Star Citizen instead. More seamless experience minus the deeper RPG elements.

This game was made by the Deus Ex HR and MD team. Come on, support them so they will make another one. Guardians is a great adventure. Great combat and witty fun dialog. And the game looks gorgeous. In my book a 9/10. A good mix of action/story driven single player. BUY IT!
