Sonic X Shadow Generations is a lovely game that stands out as a complete experience in an age full of microtransactions and games designed to soak up hundreds of hours of your life. It is a great first experience for anyone looking to get into the Sonic series and can realistically be 100% completed by your average dedicated gamer. Definitely worth buying even if you own the original Sonic Generations because it comes with Shadow Generations, an entirely new campaign.

Though beware of the real final boss in Sonic Generations, Vector.

This game utilizes EOMM, I cannot recommend someone play this game in good conscience. Please read why.

If you are unaware, EOMM is Engagement Optimized Match Making. Meaning that there is an algorithm that determines how you play the game and matches you with players that will keep you playing as long as possible. In practice, this means that if you play a games until you win and then proceed to log off, Apex will give you as many bad games as possible until you win, because it expects you to win and then leave. This also means that WHETHER OR NOT YOU WIN IS PREDECIDED by EOMM. Meaning that you get put into games with no hope of winning, and then your reward for staying around is playing games that the enemies have no hope for winning.

It's pretty good if you have the hardware to run it

I really want to like this game, but its shortcomings make it impossible for me to like or recommend FOR PEOPLE WITH LOWER END HARDWARE.

I initially ran this on Manjaro Linux using the Proton compatibility layer and experienced massive issues with the performance of the game, so I considered it to run poor on Linux until I booted into Windows and experienced the same issues with performance, with only minor improvements to insignificant aspects of the game (intro cinematic working)

Sadly, it seems that the devs did not optimize this game very well to run on older hardware, and even Markiplier was experiencing issues running this game with their system.

Lastly, this game was unreasonably large to download, I don't understand why the devs thought that 50GB was reasonable.

do you want me to talk about how there's hours of entertainment and an extremely addictive take and hold mode in addition to a bunch of community made nexus mods and the fact that it runs great at minimum specs?

what about how the dev(s?) keep the game constantly updated and has a youtube channel in which he makes weekly uploads regarding the progress of the game?

or do you want me to talk about the hilarious humor surrounding a wiener based society and the fact that I play this game daily for hours and have yet to get bored and its got the best VR gunplay that you can find in any current title?

or do you want me to mention the fact that the game works amazingly well with all VR setups and has a bunch of different customization for the locomotion settings?
