I was having fun with the game so far, seemed like a simple slightly janky good time, until I got a game-breaking, progress-stopping bug. Sonny shimmies along a cart to get into the mine elevator, but he shimmies at a different angle, phasing into the cart and just stands there staring at the wall. If anyone can help with this that would be great, if not it's unfortunately just a straight thumbs down for me.

Early Access Review
I’ve only played the first 3 acts as Monk on Normal and tried a bit of ranger and warrior, and so this review is only about the experience up till then.
Until…
• The Melee experience is ironed out more (somehow its more fun yet more frustrating than PoE 1)
• Respeccing is more forgiving, maybe even free, especially for a game in EA where drastic changes happen from patch to patch

…it’s going to be a thumbs down for me. I’m lucky to have received this for “free” (spent $480 on PoE 1 exactly kek). The game has been really fun for the weekend, but I doubt that a product that constantly changes in the middle of you playing it and then does not compensate you for what you were working towards it not a great one. I also greatly appreciate the innovations in making melee combat way more fun to look at and experience, but I currently have great doubts with the statement that this game was made with melee in mind. The considerations you have to make in combat compared to a ranged character is much more overwhelming. Your melee character could probably go bonkers in the endgame and what not, but I do not see that as a justification for the slog in the early game.

Looters in general have always had a problem with the whole “the game only starts at endgame”, and PoE 2 has the potential to be fun and engaging right from the get-go, with great bosses and engaging moment to moment mobbing, but that potential is not experienced as evenly as it should be among the classes.

The bosses are honestly the highlight of the game so far. Even in melee, the act bosses still mostly work, with horrible exceptions like the Trial bosses Early game melee mobbing is where, again, it seems more fun yet more frustrating than PoE 1. I was given the impression that combat would be a lot more tactical and combo focused and whatnot, which it is in a lot of ways, but when enemies have layers upon layers of BS that greatly reduce your playing space (lingering AoEs, AoE traps, exploding AoEs from multiple enemies at different timings, projectiles from enemies at different timings with very very low cooldowns) comboing, which takes time and space, kind of goes out the window, and it just becomes I need to burst mobs/bosses down before the arena becomes really unfun to be in. It’s not exactly super fun to be forced to take damage from a horde when you gave a me dodge roll I guess.

But hey that’s all balance stuff, and I’m really interested to see how it goes from here. Honestly my main thumbs down reason is really to warn people of a game that in it’s current Early Access is not exactly respecting people’s time with the sudden drastic balance changes. I’m sure people would love to test things out for you GGG, but I’m not too sure if making them work to test them out is the most efficient method.

yo. so i really want to give this game a chance. like another guy said, i want more soulsy games, not shoot down every potential one. In general, art is okay, 1st 3 bosses i fought seem fun, normal enemies seem to have annoying AI to fight against, but according to some it gets easier, i probably havent got there yet. My main reason here for not recommending to you is not abt gameplay per se.

The game has this camera shake thing. When you run, it shakes, when you lock on an enemy, it shakes. When you lock off an enemy, it shakes. When you kill an enemy, it shakes. I can't play the game for 10 minutes without wanting to vomit. That's all this is here for, to warn of a camera shake that can't be disabled.

I don't like putting things above others. I believe each game has its own vibe, its own thing it does really well to differentiate themselves from others in and out of their genres. This game is the exception to that. It is now my favourite game of all time. It's so good that I wish I could play again, but I can't. Not really. Because once you know, you know. I guess that's maybe one of the things that make it so good. Graphically the game is simplistic (understandable -- I think -- once you realise how much is going on in the game) but the art direction, music, atmosphere and the reveals just affected me deeply. Also, kudos to Andrew Prahlow for somehow making the banjo fit so well in space music.

The base game is amazing, and the DLC had good send off vibes. If it's your first time playing and you have the DLC, I personally recommend playing it after the base game, if you want the good send off vibes. Compared to the base game, the DLC is quite isolated and everything added is in the new location. But of course play how you want, that's kind of the point of the game. If you see something that intrigues you, go for it, you really never know what you might find. Stay curious. ::)

Edit: This was written before my frontal lobe fully developed, but it's pretty funny to look back on so I'll keep it here. The Division was okay I guess.

Better than The Division.

(I'm really pissed at the game and Ubisoft right now.)

Just get this game and save 50 bucks on the triple pack or 60 on the game of the year compared to the $75 'meh' of a game that will only be somewhat good after all the planned DLCs.

They slapped Tom Clancy's name on it to trick ppl like me into buying it.

This game has so much more content and much more worth especially since it's on sale now please save yourself from Ubisoft.
