As someone who never played this when it first came out and had my first play through of the base game today, I did not enjoy the DLC as it just asked me to more or less play the entire game again. BUT NOW THERES A NEW CATALOGUE WITH CHRISTMAS ITEMS THAT GETS PARTIALLY UNLOCKED ALONG THE WAY! I don't know why it was done like this. Why wasn't the save file wasn't continued over? Luckily I just uad to do the combos exclusively from the Christmas catalogue but I still had to unlock the regular catalogues by buying everything.

Not a fan. Playing the base game then this DLC back to back made me not a fan of it.

So lemme say this first. I'd recommend playing this and NOT getting the achievements.

WORLD AND DESIGN: ++
This is very small game consisting of a fairly decent size level. The choice of blue/white and orange works extremely well here. The beginning does sort of feel like the start of a platformer. Checkpoints were after quite large mile stones and the voice acting of the intercom was kinda cool (I did mute it when doing the achievements which you will understand later). The character is very cute and stands out well against the world, never really loosing site of him, the world and enemies look design wise look like and it does feel like a snowy wasteland like area. For a solo passion project, I'd say this is pretty good.

ENEMIES: -
The issues begin when you try to firstly attack enemies. This isn't a first, but others and myself included, have had weird issues with the hit box. There'd be times where I am right beside an enemy, not taking damage but then when I try to attack with the spin move where (in my head) my fists or I guess nubs should be somewhat invincible when attacking, yet I'll still die at times, even if the enemy isn't attacking. I'm not sure what the actual collision boxes are and what they are classed as but it does require some tweaking. There are also times where the laser bots will just snipe you. It can get a frustrating. I also don't know where I stand on the one hit KO. I get the lasers killing me, but how does air? I feel like this should have had some sort of lives system were some shots are 1 hit KOs while others were 0.5 or would take some amount of health.

CONTROLS: n/a
Something I'd like to mention is that I'm not on a beast of a gaming computer, rather a laptop which has been having a few issues. There are times where the game is quite steady and other times when it's not. So I can't say for certain if the game runs well but at times, I'd feel like I am fighting with the controls at times. You have your WASD and double jump, two staples of any platformer but you also have a spin attack and a smash/roll attack where the impact of you hitting the enemies/crates or hitting the area directly beside them would kill them as well as give you a boost in speed. This speed can then allow you to travel larger gaps and jump higher. You can also jump on enemies heads similar to that of Mario, but I would be so scared in killing an enemy by jumping on them because you carry so much momentum. There would be tiny platforms where the jump required most likely required you to turn back properly land it. When jumping from rolling, it to me never seems 100% consistent on whether it would be a single or double jump (I'm guessing its possible that I began falling off of those sections of accidentally hit space but read other reviews to gauge this). It certainly is fun to get more height by rolling before but some platforms seem more difficult to land on due to the controls.

ACHIEVEMENTS: --
There are three achievements total. Pesky Robot (Finish the level!), Bolt Vault (Reach the secret end) and Total Shutdown (Collect every beacon, destroy every crate and kill every enemy bot). I have no idea how more people have Bolt Vault than Total Shutdown because this killed me. I must have spent about three hours trying to get it. Not a huge amount of time to try and grind an achievement but given the size of this game and there only being 3 total, I'd say yes this is a long time. You have about a minute to get to the end of the course to get beyond the secret door. It requires strict platforming and knowledge of the level. Shame that for me the controls were uncomfortable due to the momentum and some reeeally harsh sections. For those who have played it, I would often die at one of two bottomless bits that had very small platforms that required you to jump on atleast one. I really hated the robot in between the two platforms that would shoot if you did not jump within half a second of you landing on the first platform. Speedrunning a level/game should be fun and rewarding. And while I did see myself improving, I felt there was still a large amount of randomness for me (again, possibly my laptop) All you get for this is an achievement which isn't super rare and no cool features or anything. It's just there. Total shutdown is another issue on its own due to the hitboxes mentioned before and the scarcity of checkpoints later in the level. You must complete two fairly difficult platforming challenges without dying from the bots or falling. Thankfully the progress is saved at the checkpoints but so many of my deaths were from terrible hit boxes and getting so tired from performing the first half of the platforming in the last section. It felt like the difficulty really spiked here as it could have been the last area the developer worked on and wanted it done. I feel like it suffers which is quite unfortunate.

Overall, this is a fun game from a solo developer which I can admire. I understand he doesn't want/can't work on this anymore which is a shame because there are some cool features but it also leads to there being some issues with hit boxes and difficulty spikes. Play and finish it as it is free but know the other two achievements mentioned about are not for the faint of heart. I will not take the achievements too much into account as they are optional but I'd say this is around a 6/10.

A great game for fans of the Avatar: The Last Airbender/The Legend of Aang and Avatar: The Legend of Korra! Controls really well and feels like I'm in the Avatar Universe. I also like the leveling up system and how easy it is to learn moves and doesn't scare new comers to the franchise. The animation looks a little weird from time to time but only because Studio Mir didn't animate it from what I remember. It's a shame the other characters in the universe don't make as big of an appearance as I was hoping but pro bending is amazing. It is exactly what I wanted in a game version of pro bending and I love the comments and remarks the characters say throughout the match however everytime the opposite team advance, the character furthest away from the screen seems to glitch and doesn't know what axis it's is on for a brief moment. Hopefully a simple patch would solve it.

Overall a very good game
