A giant step back from StarDrive 1 - the development of which was abandoned before I and many others felt it was actually finished.

My gripes:
  • The interface has regressed in almost every way - this feels like it was designed for consoles
  • Ships now have sections, so if you enjoyed setting up your own firing arcs you'll find that the customization available from the first iteration of the game is gone
  • Ground combat is completely uninteresting and feels like a solution in search of a problem
  • The tutorial isn't great - it suggested I colonize a planet in my home system where I couldn't produce any food
  • The 'Battle Arena' scenarios are often an exercise in frustration
  • No difficulty adjustment for the Battle Arena
  • Weapons and Armor/Shields aren't very well balanced yet

I'm currently almost 20 hours in, and every time after I quit a session I just feel underwhelmed.
