ok so i kickstarted this game and i was not dispointed but I do feel like this was made for a select audience. it reminded me of being a kid and playing maniac mansion and monkey island, though it was maybe slightly less engaging than the latter which is a shame since the first two monkey island games were pure magic. that said, this game really does capture old school adventure games perfectly, down to the sometimes maddenly random puzzles that are more arbitrarily mashing items together vs actual puzzles. i love how the kickstarters are integrated into the game (through the library, phone book, and ranom's swear jar), the graphics are great, the world is beautiful, the humor is good...that said, i don't like playing 5 characters, at times it felt cumbersome. some clearly have skillets that are necessary, but i would've preferred to have one character that i maintained an emotional attachment to and just run with them for 10 hours. i'm curious to see the differences between hard and easy mode (i played on hard) just since that was never an option in the past though i can see it being a cool way for people who are first getting into the genre. i will say i thought the ending was both cool and kind of eh though, which i know is a contradiction but somehow it managed to both get me back into the game but also feel like a cop-out. just go with me on this one.

so yeah, if you loved lucasarts and sierra games, you're gonna like this. is it the second coming of monkey island? sadly no, but that's not a bad thing, it's it's own thing and hopefully it will be the start of something new since so many people are so jazzed about it, it would be great to see a resurgence of the genre.
