I really like this format. It's about time we got a good hero shooter with something that shakes up the basic objective mechanics.

Don't believe the haters. Tons of people jumped on the bandwagon of hating this game so they could feel 'cool.' They did it without ever seeing the game, much less playing it. It's all performative.

Actually give it a try and then decide for yourself.

Enjoying it a lot more than Expeditions so far. It hits just the right balance between doing things yourself and convenience speeding up the game just a bit.

Perfect example is loading sand into your dump truck (which you do a lot). While you do have to travel back to the sand quarry in order to fill up, you don't have to drive to an exact spot and then switch vehicles to load the sand. Just drive close to it and then hit a button and you fill up. Then you can get back to the fun part of the game.

If I had played this game when it came out (2018), I'd probably give it a very "meh" review, if not a thumbs down.

If I'd played this game when it debuted on Steam with the "Juggernaut Edition" (2020), I'd probably give it a "well, if it's on a deep sale, it can be fun for a bit".

But no, I played this game today, in late 2024. I've been enjoying it a lot, and decided to look back at the update list. A HUGE number of the things I really enjoy about the game have been added in the last 4 years. This is a similar redemption arc to No Man's Sky. They had a vision for the game, and they *just kept working on it* to realize that vision, without even charging for any of the updates! Not even any cosmetic DLC!

Huge upvote for this game. At this point, it's doing everything right. If the trailers intrigue you at all, I highly recommend it. I am actually legitimately sad I only paid $7.50 for this when it was on sale, because the Devs deserve the full $30. So I bought it for a friend too :P

Incredibly charming and supremely well written game. The gear and combat element is just interesting enough to keep me engaged without being so crunchy that it takes the focus away from the story.

In addition, the stories can be tragic, but it isn't dark and grim like a lot of these games. It has an overall feeling of hope, even when tragic elements occur. It fully captures the "darkness but with a glimmer of light" that Tolkin's work had. It rides that line between "everything's going to be fine because we have plot armor" and "everything's terrible and going to end badly" that is apparently very hard in fantasy storytelling.

Very chill and zen game...right up until your topple your truck by being lazy for the 5th time.

10/10 would fail again.

Fun little game, Worth $20.

It's got some interesting systems, but it has a real "rich get richer" problem at the same time as it has a "hard to close out a game even after you've won".

The game is very polished at this point, and they are still improving it in little ways every other week.

Finally fixed a pretty bad abstraction of a supply system.

Fun little zen-like RTS. I enjoy it a lot.
