As much as I love the STALKER series, the atmosphere, and the setting, I simply cannot recommend STALKER 2 to anyone due to its current technical state (just yet).

Right off the bat, UE5 blows (my personal opinion, cry about it). The performance is poor on a decent machine, and the only way to have a consistent frame rate is to enable frame generation, which, of course, makes the game run at a higher frame rate while introducing latency and all sorts of wonkiness.

The "A-life" system is bugged as all hell. While going through scripted events/quests, enemies tend to spawn behind the player.
As of December 21st, the devs have released patches that address this issue, but at the same time, they’ve introduced crashes upon shader compilation, to which they released another set of patches to address that(and surprise, surprise—some of us still have to relaunch the game about five times to get to the main menu).

The devs are consistently working to improve the state of the game (which, of course, is a good thing). However, for those new to the STALKER franchise, I’d recommend waiting about half a year for the major kinks to be resolved. In the meantime, consider playing the original trilogy or Anomaly.

Whenever the FPS goes over 20 in most of the areas of this expansion, I'll gladly reconsider recommending this to anyone, let alone playing it. Save yourself money, play Horizons instead in before FDEV decides to merge it into whatever the [REDACTED] this broken pile of [DATA EXPUNGED] is.

Completed the story, got existential crisis.
