Very exciting first few hours, very promising game. As it stands right now Everwind’s core gameplay loop is addictive. Exploration, crafting, and building is all intuitive and nice. The fact that there are meaningful skill investments on top is something else entirely.

The airship you make FEELS like an airship. See something in the distance? Set course, fly, and upgrade/build while you’re sailing across the skies. It reminds me of Raft if you actually mastered that piece of wood rather than it controlling you.

The game is also shocked me with its atmosphere. The music, sound effects, statues, the subtle details to include named graves, all of it feels like it creates a sense for wonder.

If you’re a fan of any survival/crafting game and you’re looking for the next one, this is it. It’s somewhere between Vintage Story and Enshrouded and I look forward to its bright future.

I will also update this review periodically as I progress further into the game :)

9.5/10 please check it out, it’s worthy of your time

kenshi allows for roleplaying unlike any other game i've ever played. the overall narrative is something that is even more amazing when you consider the lack of quests. the only driving motivator to play is continuation of your character and their story. this game will stop you from save scumming. you get targeted by a group of bandits, beat up, robbed, and left for dead? just keep playing, see what happens.

seriously.

this game has amazing storytelling through its environments. the game does not really care about who you are in its world, and that alone makes it special. you are just another person in the world of kenshi and it is up to the successes and many failures of your character to advance. this is a very special experience and i'd recommend it to anyone looking for the ultimate video game narrative experience.

Intro

Beyond the Wire is a realistic WWI shooter with an emphasis on hardcore gunplay and teamwork. The current few maps paint a daunting and dark picture of the Western Front as the battles pull you into the trenches.

Pros

This game is immersive.

This is perhaps the biggest plus that this game has going for it. The sound is horrifying. Watching artillery shells rain down is scary. Running over no man's land with your teammates getting shot around you is something that very few games can offer you. You will be pulled into the atmosphere and truly engage with what's around you.

Great map-design.
Each and every map feels as though the team has brought alive the Western Front through setting alone. Each trench feels alive. Each small town feels alive. The fields are their own. Each map tells their own story and brings you through the horrors of World War One by pure atmosphere alone.

Fantastic gunplay.
Each gun feels good to use. The bolt action rifles feel powerful and reactive. The pistols really let you pop off. The grenades and explosions are solid. The game really wants you to learn how to work with each gun. The sway feels realistic and well-thought out.

Good squadplay.
This can be hit or miss, but it's relatively hit. The squads do coordnate together and offer a unique and enjoyable experience. Typically Squad has nine man squads but this game has brought it down to six. This means that they feel a little more tightly woven which is a really good thing.

Cons

This game is buggy. Very buggy.
This is expected as it's early access though. As time goes on the bugs will go away. These devs have learned a lot from Squad and Post Scriptum and do have a positive track record. However, do expect to see floating guns, to glitch through the ground on occasion, and to see people bug out. This happens at least once a match.

You are unable to manually select your mic or audio.
This is no good as many people have not been able to talk to their team. In a game that emphasizes teamplay, not being able to communicate is huge. If the devs allowed people to select their own microphone and test it, this wouldn't be so much of a problem. This is a huge huge huge con.

The game is unoptimized.
Maps have FPS dips. If things get too wild the game does freeze up a bit. There is some stuttering every now and again. On higher level systems this shouldn't be felt. This will also go away with time but it seems to be a map-specific problem.

Things feel a little barebones.
That's to be expected though. The game is fun but the lack of polish and content does make it feel just a little dull. Just a little. This is a very mild con and as the game is updated I expect that to go away. Just don't expect the fullness and richness of a game like Squad or Post Scriptum. They'll get there, just give them time.

Overall I recommend this game.
This game is good. It has a solid basis that really shows potential. It is enjoyable in its current state. However, the bugs and lack of content and deep gameplay does pull you out some. However, if you are used to alpha experiences and have played Squad, Post Scriptum, Hell Let Loose, or any shooter like those I would recommend this game. This game will get there. If you're not prepared for a hardcore alpha experience I'd recommend waiting a few months for more content and getting into it then. Either way, this game is good now and will get better later. My only cons are mostly to do with the alpha state.

Crusader Kings III is an amazing blend of the RPG and strategy genres. You play as a bloodline with individual characters having their own skill trees. Managing your country and war while trying to expand your family's influence is addicting and rewarding.

I have been a longtime Paradox fan and will say that many of their games feel a bit empty at launch until DLC comes to patch that up. This launch is by far the most interesting out of the group. I have enjoyed this game for some time and I will likely continue to enjoy it.
