This is the sequel we have been waiting for. It's polished, expanded upon the original story, they didn't do a typical opener where suddenly all of your powers are gone and you have to get them all again, they added new powers, the enemies that come after you are more varied and are deadly in various combinations while still being fair, they've reduced minor nuisances from the first game, they've utilized non-Euclidean geometry to make small spaces open up into new open areas (like the concept of the Tardis from Dr. Who)...

This is a collectathon done right. At first I was bummed to find out there weren't more worlds/content to explore once I realized my level was nearing 100, but then I realized that this doesn't need to be a collectathon odyssey that takes 60+ hours. They prioritized the story and gameplay over unnecessary fluff to drag out the game length.

The only criticisms so far are under utilization of some old characters like Sasha and Milla, and bugs ranging from minor and largely unnoticeable to game-breaking; fortunately much of the latter type of bugs have been few and fixed since launch.

This game is worth full price and I'd gladly pay for any DLC if announced. I know we waited 16 years for this but I'm already looking forward to a hopeful third installment in the series. (double fine pls)

TL;DR: It's good; well worth your time/money

This is minigolf on a computer; I'm not sure what people are looking for in this kind of adaptation but it's fun with friends. Also it's only 6 dollars, quit whining people. Not a AAA masterpiece but it is exactly what I expected and I'm satisfied.

Just because I got butthurt on the level design a couple of times didn't mean I couldn't beat it some other time, you just gotta git gud. Also there's a level editor so if you're really that butthurt then go make your own levels and stop whining!

Would like to see more features not fully implemented yet, as well as local multiplayer, but overall I'm happy.

Just nominated for the "Controller-smashin', finger-mashin', screen-flashin' digital wondermare" write-in award. If that doesn't cue you into the kind of game this is, then I don't know what will. This game builds character and for a dollar or whatever sale price it's going for when you read this, you can't get that kind of personal growth anywhere else for that value.

Cuphead is a wonderfully packaged classic cartoon-themed game designed to be unforgivably challenging and aesthetically pleasing. The game that bears the closest resemblance to this one in my mind is Contra (NES), as there are multiple weapons, bosses, and sidescrolling.

Pros
+excellent gameplay mechanics (dodge, parry, tight controls, super abilities, unique equipment combinations)
+variation between bosses in attack patterns, the environments, and the boss phases
+well produced soundtrack that fits the theme closely
+hand drawn animations (yes, look for the production video on YouTube on how they did it)
+several unlockables and secrets

Cons
-Not for you if you are a newcomer to games that require quick reaction time, recognizing video/audio cues, or finding patterns
-Not for you if you don't have a controller
-Not for you if you lose your cool with trial and error (see above point if you break your controller)
-Not for you if you have any reasonable doubt that $20 is too much for this game given the above and your relative interest in playing this game

Bottom line (TL;DR)
This game is tough but well made and personally gratifying. You'll look back at the end and think of the challenges you overcame, and (maybe) want do it all again for expert mode!

I would not recommend this game because of the following:

The story was okay (not a 'masterpiece', nor was it as funny as hyped)
The RPG elements were simplistic and the customization was lacking (it felt pretty linear to me despite the costume pick and stamp equips)
The battles were tedious/repetitive, and relied mainly on quick time events

If you enjoy casual, lighthearted fun and/or enjoy other double fine games a lot, then this game is for you (I enjoyed Psychonauts, but Costume Quest is not comparable)...otherwise don't bank on a really immersive RPG.
