Where previous Fallout games were developed for the PC, then ported to console, this is a console game in style. That means it's dumbed-down a bit, over-simplified. There's little point in selling and buying, at least early on, items are almost worthless to sell, and expensive to buy. There are "daily quests", that don't have a proper story. It's a lot of running about and shooting, not much real thinking required.

The interface is also a MESS, Pip-Boy's menu has a dozen categories and it's clunky to navigate between. All the while, the game does not pause. It's multi-player only, although you can elect to ignore your fellow human players, PvP only takes effect if you choose to shoot back at an assailant. The game just seems like a lot of running round for no reason, EVERY quest seems like a last-minute add-on, just created to give you a distraction. It's very much NOT in the style of the previous games, gameplay-wise.

If you're old enough to have played the first Deus Ex game, then Invisible War, all the criticism Invisible War took (players hated it!) applies to this. Too "console" style, endless time wasting, and the economy is buggered. You pay caps to fast-travel, and quests reward you with a pile of random equipment.

Crafting is the same, endless disorganised menus, especially building your base.

Not nearly as rewarding as a Fallout game should be. Seems like some other company took over and put in the visual elements but not the structural ones. Oh and VATS is gone. Now it just tells you your chances of hitting a target, in real-time. No pausing in the game at all. It needs a 1-player option, desperately.

AFAIK there's no communication between players past a few emotes, so multi-player is somewhat pointless. It was never needed in a Fallout game before. Again, they've "consolised" it, to it's detriment. Don't recommend if you're a big fan of the previous ones.

It's not meant to be a "game" at all. It's just a story, written, and also narrated by a good narrator. Then you pass through scenes from the story, rendered in 3D. You have a little freedom to move the mouse to look around from where you're stood, but you can't walk or move around the scene, your feet are glued to the floor. The mouse can only move so far, you can't see ALL of the scene.

Personally I wouldn't pay for Dagon, which was free. I wouldn't pay for the others either. The stories are freely available. The graphics and narration in this are very good, but I'm still not gonna pay for a 3D picture book. It's a very good 3D picture book, but it's not a genre I'd pay money for. So I won't be buying the DLC, sorry lads. It's excellent for what it is, but what it is, isn't excellent. I'm glad it exists but I don't think it's a genre with a future.

Since it's just a story being read, there's no decisions or choices at all. Just click the circle to progress to the next "page", and occasionally a little bonus sign pops up that you can click on for a bit of trivia on the story, HPL, or the real-life context.

A well made thing but not a type of thing I'd buy. It's only 30 minutes long or so, Lovecraft tended to write short stories, so it's worth the time playing through once since it's free.

Early Access Review
I agree with most of the reviews here. But I must point out that the "end game" isn't finished yet. There's still fish, animals, and who knows what missing from the game, as well as some sort of plot about spaceships and alien predecessors. This is all still to be added in updates. It's not a finished game. So getting to the point where you've run out of stuff to do, just means you should put the game on hold for a while, play something else, and give the devs (just 1 programmer and 1 artist) time to write some more gameplay.

Currently it seems like about half the game is completed, and quite a bit more stuff due to come in the future, once Brice programs it. And it's been great fun playing so far. Chill game, no annoying enemies, apart from hunger, thirst, and the need to breathe. So you wander round the planet, setting stuff up, building bases, and arranging the place so you can get what you need. Exploration is good too, the planet is beautiful with all sorts of dramatic landscapes.

The lack of stuff to do right now is just what happens when you buy "early access". The full game will come, and there's plenty to do right now, certainly to justify the price tag.

Pointless, annoying, walking simulator. Sometimes it says "she opened her eyes" and you grab a woman's eyelids with the mouse and open them. You move your hand to do things you were doing with your hands. There are a few logic puzzles which are annoying and don't make a lot of sense, though most of them were easy, a couple were completely arbitrary.

This game sucks, it really does. No ending. You don't find out the point of anything, the dreams, the sinister hospital, except it turns out it isn't sinister even though there's a ton of clues to suggest it is. You start off knowing nothing, you move past images and sounds, and finish off still knowing nothing. What just happened? Nothing.

Do not buy. Really. Awful, stupid experience that they forgot to put the game into. It's more of a moving colouring book. With less plot.

Despite all the stupid meme reviews, this game has a story mode and it's actually really beautiful. A lonely penis, looking for love, in all the wrong places. You work his ♥♥♥♥♥♥ job, you get him drunk, you live the man's life. How much is it like your own life? More than you think. Except you have arms and legs and aren't just a talking slobbering penis.

It's also very funny of course, how couldn't it be? Look at some videos or something of story mode. I didn't expect it to be so long and so real.

If you liked Mini Metro from the same developer, you'll probably like this. Simple game, simple rule, just the mouse, and barely any buttons to press. You just draw roads between different coloured houses and different coloured buildings (shops? offices? nobody knows). Little cars set off down the road to go shop (or work, nobody knows). That's the basic idea. The challenge is that roads get busy! Houses crop up, buildings demand ever more visitors, faster and faster. The drivers follow some sort of internal rules. And, eventually, if a building isn't getting enough visitors (and they're HUNGRY!) then the city fails and the citizens burn the place down and dance naked in the ashes. That's after the "Game Over" part though, so you don't get to see it.

It's city planning against a literal ticking clock! The pressure builds up when you're not looking, and all of a sudden your perfect plan starts to over-run! NO! Don't drive there!

So it's part brains, laying out the city at first, and part mad panic, in patching it up, faster than you can even think sometimes. Lots of fun, and lots of different towns to work on. As well as challenges and a leader board. It's the Steam game I play most by far. Watch someone play on Youtube and see if it looks like it's for you.

An excellent AAA RPG-shooter. Set in a weird pseudo-steampunk time that never really happened, where the world is powered by whale oil (it was a big swimming animal, no, not a fish, ask your grandfather). You have magic spells, abilities, tricks and traps, all the usual sort of thing, and a fairly limited range of weapons, though this is never a problem.

A weird adventure that apparently can be played stealthily without killing anyone!? I killed EVERYONE, I dunno how that part's supposed to work. It's an older game and pretty cheap to get now but the quality remains, great gameplay and exceptional graphics for the era, adding up to pretty decent graphics nowadays.

If you like running round killing people (or... not?) and casting spells and collecting runes and bits of magic bone hidden all over the place (to power up those spells) then you'll like this. A lot like Bioshock, a lot like Deus Ex, you know the routine, and here it's done very well.

This game is really a demo, a tech demo perhaps, for the proper Half Life game. It's about 30 minutes long and is good within that. But don't pay for it for gods' sake! It presumably came free with something if you got it. I'm not ticking "came free" cos I had to pay for the bundle this was in, but you shouldn't be able to pay for it separately, and it would be a bad idea if you could.

That said it's a fun half hour, doesn't really have the Half Life 2 atmosphere but shows off the graphics nicely. They were pretty cool in 2005!

I liked this product, Jesus. I was asked for a thumbs-up, you can have one, it's a good game. I don't wanna write a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ review. This game sold billions and is widely regarded as a classic, and is still lots of fun to play now. It's really good. If for some reason you don't have it, and you like that sort of game, you should buy it, it's pretty cheap probably. Get the whole set, Episode 1 and 2 are pretty good as well, and a good enough length for their price. Ok?
