Art, lore, music, and voice-acting are like a mashup of Darksiders and Castlevania, which drew me in initially. Then I stayed for the ride.

Difficulty of a traditional souls-like with a bunch of QoL stuff to make it less frustrating. Epic graphics, great voice acting, snappy and responsive combat. The hardest thing for me to grasp in most souls-likes is how often I lose control of my characters (having to wait to swing, dodge rolling taking forever, etc) and I loved that in Khazan, I felt like I actually controlled the outcome of fights based on my movements, and not just luck. One of the only games I've taken the time to get every achievement in. Definitely worth picking up!

Extremely fun game. Has something a lot of new games lack - being unique. It's definitely a breath of fresh air when developers aren't scared to do something a little different than the cookie-cutter formula that every AAA studio does when it comes to this type of game.

Deep and tough puzzles, Gritty (DARK) story, fun combat, unique mechanics, good voice acting, all wrapped up in a great sci-fi aesthetic.

If you're on the fence, definitely check it out. Hardest difficulty recommended if you like having to use all your tools to power through. Hoping for some DLC down the line to find out more about those other 4 skill/emotion trees.

Couldn't put it down 'till I beat it. Even between Dune and Nightreign, this game hooked me to the point of not missing sleep. Very engaging gameplay/story and top notch voice acting. I love how it doesn't really feel like anything I've played before, and how every part of the game forces you to adapt in a different way. Liked it so much that I tried it on Gamepass and had to come here and grab it, and I feel like its an absolute steal at 35 bucks.

Think... Pacific Drive + Death Stranding with a Returnal Atmosphere all while micromanaging a team of ..yourself the whole time.

Thanks for making something that felt truly "new".

I think the game deserves a thumbs up because its pretty fun and sets out what it tries to do, I just don't think its my cup of tea right now, really. Too easy from what I can tell, no real goal. No challenge + no goal = lack of reason to keep pushing. I would like to think I'm gearing up for something big or different, but even in the description of the game, it basically just says "kill stuff to get stronger to kill stuff to upgrade to kill stuff" and I don't feel like the gameplay loop is good enough for something like that. I do think it has a good core and potential, but it feels more like an outline than a full game. I'll check back down the road to see if they've added some more content.

I'll update this with more as I dump half my life into this game for the next month. But just chiming in to say a few things so I can hopefully help more of you enjoy this game instead of riding the coattails of the people complaining about things that just aren't true.

PLEASE don't miss out on such a cool experience just because someone on reddit decided they wanted to start a crying baby wah wah train on Steam.

First...the option to change the way you look is available just a few hours into the game!!! This is not a paid service only. ALL the things you get from the deluxe edition can be acquired in game (minus the soundtrack o course) and most of it within the first few hours. Not to mention, they gave you weeks to make a character for free.

Now stop feeding the review bomb trolls and go ENJOY YOURSELF. This game is incredible so far.

An absolutely wild if not a little exhausting journey. I bought it on a whim, kinda expecting I would be refunding it, but the ominous story-telling and setting drew me in. That, and the addicting progression/upgrade system kept me there. There's just something so fun about games that are willing to try something out of the ordinary. Especially recommended for people that enjoy slow burn games. Gave me Dredge in FPS vibes.

Couple tips to not get strung out on repetitive stuff :

-Don't stop and scrap every car. After you hit about 200-300 scrap, you barely will have to get more. I beat the game with 400+ scrap after making probably 100 gears.

-Upgrade your Engine ASAP. It speeds up your car (and the missions) considerably.

-You can pack like 3 gas canisters in your side storage and never have to really worry about stopping for gas.

-Don't be tempted to stop over and over...it actually made the end of the game a little boring, since I was so stacked that I basically drove straight through the last 4th of the game without having to worry.

I enjoyed my time with it, highly recommend.

This game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ GREAT.
There's a few small bugs but they are smashing them quicker than I can submit them.

EDIT : I wanted to throw in that after hours I REALLY appreciate the minimalistic setup you guys have. Going from menu to menu, executing attacks, going into shops...nothing fancy, just does what it does quick and well. It really helps you stay engaged without having to wait for animations and flashy UI's. Another huge thing from Slay the Spire that has kept me playing for hours and hours. Thanks.

Great art, good sound effects. Great balance, tough but rewarding experience..steady pace, very fun to level up and build and manage your party.
Excited to see where this one goes!

My only small gripe right now with the game is how short the music clips are, so they end up looping a lot. They are great tracks, don't get me wrong..but too short. So...all I do is blast the Slay the Spire soundtrack while playing this and its the perfect combination. Its truly tough to beat that soundtrack so..if you've never heard it, do yourself the favor while you play this game.

Small tip : If you play on hard, do not try to cycle party members in and out to keep them leveled..it will end up screwing you in the end. Gotta find your 3 and go go go.

Thanks for this awesome game!

I have owned this game for 4 days, and played over 50 hours.
Same goes for the 3 others in my crew.
There really isn't a way to describe this game until you play it.
So...here's a short story of the first event that got us hooked big time.

A crew member and I were swinging from the bottom of an island grabbing gas and ore to fix up our airship and take off to a closeby island, when we heard another engine in the distance. They seemed civil enough, avoiding our area and just shouting "HELLO!" as they passed by.. when suddenly, the screen started to rumble and lightning shot across the sky.

(In Worlds Adrift, when there is a sudden localized storm, that means that all the chests and nodes have respawned on the island.)

We looked up and the ship had switched trajectories and was headed for our landing site. A few moments later we spotted a guy swinging below the island with us shooting to try and stop us from getting back up to the surface while his buddies scoured for treasure. Meanwhile, they had one more crew member on the ship barraging our ship with cannons.

We all scrambled back to our ship and manned our cannons (we had 4) and let loose on their ship. It seemed that they had no idea what to do, so they all ran back, jumped on their cannons and shot back. After a 30 second firefight, one of our cannons clipped their left sail and abruptly sent their ship spinning where it clipped a tree and got caught, taking out their engines as well. As they tried desperately to repair the sails and get their ship loose, one of our crew members hopped off our ship and snapped the tree with his salvage tool...and their ship (with their respawn beacons attached) tumbled into the abyss. We hunted down the remaining members, and they were forced to spawn far far away, while we calmly finished looting the island of its riches.

One of the coolest feelings I've ever had as a gamer.
When they allow people to purchase once again, BUY THIS GAME.
Worth every damn penny.

I'm a huge Dark Souls fan.
I'm a huge rogue-like fan.

Needless to say..I was very excited about this game.
It falls short just about in every aspect that makes those games fun.

Right off the bat, you kill a skeleton, and it drops a sword. Cool!
You kill another skeleton..its drops a sword. ...
The same Sword. Every. Time.

The combat is slow, and very unsatisfying.
I played the game for about an hour and didn't ever feel scared of losing my progression, because I hadn't felt like I'd actually progressed. The whole idea behind being scared to lose a hardcore character is the adrenaline rush and the need to actually function properly under pressure to keep your character alive..but you don't feel attached to your character in this game. If you die..oh well.

PROS :
Very unique art style. Think..Dark Souls + Windwaker, or something.
The music is awesome, and one of the main reasons I was drawn to this initially.
Rogue-Like with small progressions to make your runs not feel completely useless..the best kind.

CONS :
Boring, stale combat
Absolutely NO sense of progression
Every single mob type drops ONE weapon. Over and over and over.
Although the level design is cool, I was desperately hoping for a scenery change after not even an hour.
Someone mentioned this earlier.. the humor. I dig humor in games, don't get me wrong..but this just seemed..forced. I love corny humor when its placed in the right game..but this isn't banjo kazooie; pick a theme and perfect it instead of trying to do 10 things at once.

This game could potentially find its way to success if they revamp the combat and looting system.
Its sad that those were suppose to 2 of the biggest alluring aspects of the game, but they definitely fall short.

I almost wish this was early access, so I knew the devs realized this game wasn't finished.
Hope to see it fixed up in the future. For now, this wasn't worth my $30.
