This game is in often depressing and stressful. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who has issues with self harm or suicidal ideation, but if those elements being present in a video game is something you can deal with this game is worth it. The way there is rough but the ending is cathartic and will likely leave you thinking about this game for days.

Ultrakill is the most mechanically satisfying game I've ever played at time of writing. I've had more fun with just under 200 hours of this game than I did with every other shooter I've ever played combined. Eat your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ heart out Doom. Ultrakill is the rare single player FPS that doesn't have a single weapon that's unviable in endgame. In fact it encourages you to switch weapons regularly due to how well weapons combo with each other. The coin gun is a marvel of game design that has given me so much joy while learning to master it, which I haven't even finished doing btw I still can't railcoin for ♥♥♥♥. The enemy design is fun and varied and every enemy is utilized in creative and interesting ways as the game progresses. The literal only downside is that (at time of writing) you can't kiss Gabriel.

This game will fundamentally rewrite your brain. It's hands down the best argument to bring up to anyone trying to say video games can't be artistic. It's sad, it's funny, it's downright beautiful. If you haven't played this game you're missing out.
The publication company screwed the devs right up the ass until they bled though so maybe dont spend money on it

great game for the first half hour, then you realize that it's more of that half hour. if progression was faster, or if there was more to do besides dodging sleepers/lucids this game would be amazing. but sadly neither of these are true. great for a few hours of fun with friends, but don't expect longevity

I love this game so much. I have about 300 hours in it at the moment and I have not gotten even a little bored doing the exact same thing over and over again. The beauty of this game (and also most good rougelikes) is that even though each playthrough is very similar, it's semi-randomness makes it a different experience each time. The game is also quite an experience. If you don't look up what items and things do, learning what each item does is an extremely interesting and fufilling experiment (especially when you get Brimstone for the first time). One thing to point out is that some items are extremely overpowered, whereas some are extremely underpowered. And to someone who doesn't play many rougelikes, that sounds like a flaw. But trust me, in a randomly generated game like Isaac, all it does is add flavor to the game. This is my second favorite game of all time, only being surpassed by Cave Story in terms of fun gameplay. (And if Afterbirth + costs as much as a AAA title, I'll still buy it)

This game is wonderful. It is mostly a sad experience, but if you spend all of your time pressing 3 it gets kinda funny. This is more of an interactive story than an actual game. Play it if you liked those choose your own adventure books.

My review will be short and sweet.
I beat it 3 times, and the ending made me cry 3 times. If you don't want to be kicked in the gonads over and over again by the feels, (because you will relpay it) don't buy this game. However, if you aren't a cold heartless bastard, you will almost certainly love this game.
