The classic Final Fantasy titles are always fascinating to check out. Do keep in mind that even remastered Final Fantasy II is an old and weird game and this is the original Japanese Final Fantasy II, not the title originally released internationally as Final Fantasy II (for that, check out Final Fantasy IV). The game's plot is more like the outline of a daring adventure, and the gameplay is quirky as heck.

If you appreciate older RPGs though, I can't recommend it enough. Because of some interesting design decisions the game us unlike the rest of the franchise and each play through can be wildly different. Aesthetically the Pixel Remaster might be the definitive version of the game as well. Unlike some of the other remasters there's no strange sequences that look worse than the original hardware versions, and the artistry of the original pixel art is respected in almost every corner of the game. In terms of play and mechanics, it's more of a toss up depending on your preferences but I feel the Pixel Remaster is a quality edition of this title.
