Haven't completed it yet, but so far it's been a faithful remastering of the original.
The upscale and re-texturing is great and makes you nostalgic for the original.
I think the $30 is steep, but i'm doubtful many people will buy this, so they kind of have to charge more.

My only gripe is the inability to turn off aim assist and the redesign of some of the redesigned menus do feel out of place.
Overall, pretty great :)

I've always known farming sim games to be buggy, but for me, it ruins the experience.

Especially when you consider that some people have payed up-to £100 on the main game and dlc, there's no excusing the input lag and near constant fps drops.

Shame on me for getting excited about harvesting corn, I guess.

Dwarf fortress was an iconic game even before the steam release, this new version which is more approachable and tutorialised is a historical masterpiece. The development cycle for dwarf fortress was simply incompatible with sensible business practice, nobody in their right mind would spend 20 years coding, testing and fixing what is essentially a fantasy simulation in a terminal/console window. Imagine if rockstar, bethesda or EA took this approach to development. It simply would not work.

Yet here we are, 21 years in the making. Struck by a strange mood, Tarn and Zach have created a master craft of the finest quality.

Unlike existing life simulation games, this has a level of polish not seen before in the choices matter x life-sim genre. It's a little bulkier in depth of mechanic than it's mobile equivalents, with a very detailed 2d art style and some of the most fitting music i've heard from a game in while. One thing that might annoy you is the RNG, which will prevent you from meta playthroughs like playing the rich kid or aiming to be a chef. nevertheless for £10 it's worth playing and can make for some interesting videos if you're a content creator.

Infuriating more than it is fun. factory lines not interacting with regular roads, vehicle path-finding issues, object snapping glitches and strange bugs whilst laying pipes are just a few of the many problems that you'll encounter.

It's a shame I wanted to like this game so bad.

I can just about recommend this.

This game is like a binge-able Netflix series, The story's premise, world narrative and characters are captivating. The conclusion of which can range from sombre to breathtaking.

However the game itself, mechanically speaking is mostly broken and unfinished. A lot of content was cut, the menus and UI diegetics are frustrating, and there's a distinct lack of actual intelligent AI. Getting a 3 star wanted level in this game feels like a punishment, despite the fact that consistently in the games story the police are considered just another faction with it's own similar flaws and problems like any other gang.

Past the problems is an amazing game, I expect just like the Witcher series that the games sequels will be better. If any game producers are reading this, my advice to you going into any new project is: 'substance before scale, who cares how big your game is, if it's empty and will take years to develop'.

amazing game, worth every penny.

did you know: the development team were broken into and they had to re-build the game from the ground up.
