I am so close to recommending this game. The concept, art style, ambiance are superb. The variety of weapons and items makes me want to never stop discovering. The guns are punchy and fun. However...

The gameplay is very one-dimensional. There is no variability to the combat: There isn't really any stealth, melee, or verticality. The whole gameplay loop could be boiled down to this: Run through completely empty corridors for a few minutes, run away from the 10 enemies it just spawned in front of you, if you have enough ammo to survive you might find a weapon that does imperceptibly more damage than your last one, repeat.

There are also no instructions at all. This adds to the sense of mystery and whatnot but, out of the box, I had no idea what the mechanics of the game were. When is it safe to exit the game? What happens when you teleport back to the safe area? Things like that, which aren't about gameplay, but about the game itself, could definitely be explained better.

All of that said, this game has been in Early Access for (at the time of writing) about 7 months, which is fresh enough that I feel bad writing all of this, but this is the state of things currently. I can only hope that my feedback is valuable to the Early Access process.

TL;DR: I played 6.5 hours, only the first 4 were fun. If that's worth $25 to you, then go for it. For me, it's just barely not enough. I will definitely be following the development of this game, and I would be thrilled to update this review.

A classic masterpiece, for it's time and for today.
It's got some quirks of it's era but, even if it's the only game in the series you encounter, Half-Life 2 is an absolute must play.

Perfect idea, bad execution. Physics engine just doesn't work the way this game needs it to.

Despite the degenerative disease that creates new, never before seen bugs every time you play, this bundle of games has an unbeatable value.

Controls are nonsense and I'm not sure the display settings actually do anything.
I have 6 hours in the game right now and it was all spent either trying to fix something with the software or convincing myself that the game would eventually get fun. So the gameplay is a no for me, personally.

I really wanted to leave a good review for this game. It's so close to being great.
It's a lot of fun. Charting courses, completing missions, maintaining your ship and crew— It's very satisfying and will have you feeling like a real space captain. Until...

The progression is very slow and it seems like everytime you start doing well, there's some kind of random event that ruins everything and knocks you back down to zero. The game crashes often and has some glitches. It also gets quite tedious keeping your crew happy and your ship clean and functioning.

The game just glitched out and made me fail one mission that I had active, but like 8 times for some reason. So now I'm $16,000+ in debt on my game of 870 cycles. So that's kind of a bummer.

I liked nothing. I disliked everything.

Trash.

Got to play 2 games before it kicked me out of every lobby I was in, saying the lobby was full.

I then closed the game to have Google Chrome automatically open to a "thank you" page, which failed to load and I was then redirected to the Evolve homepage. Involuntary slowclap ensues.

But the two games I did get to play were pretty fun. Patch it up and I'll be sure to recommend.

Pros: Combat is almost fun.

Cons: Literally everything.
