Unoptimized shovelware full of typos designed to be reacted to rather than played.

At this stage the game is pretty good. Land warfare works well, and the gameplay loop is satisfying. Companies and prestige goods make the game so much more fun and satisfying. Diplomacy is better but still needs some work. It's a very fun simulation that models economic progress throughout the victorian era.

The two main issues I have:
First, the world feels kind of stagnant. This can very a lot by playthrough, but Germany sometimes has trouble forming, China and Russia sometimes never collapse, Austria and Ottomans almost never collapse in my playthorughs. It's not uncommon to have the borders in Europe be the same in 1936 as they were when the game started. It's super easy to get rid of an uprising by just passing a law they want. There shouldn't be a manuever phase in a civil war. Rebels need a rework and need a serious buff.

Second, naval combat needs a serious rework. This is something on the devs list, I hope they make it a top priority. As of now you can basically just ignore naval warfare as most countries without having an impact. Naval innovations were a huge part of the how geopolitics worked in this era and it's a shame to see that it's barely modeled.

It comes as a bonus for the royal edition so I don't understand why people are upset.

Honestly game works a lot better than it did about a year ago, it feels like it's coming into its own. DLC is mandatory though unfortunately.

This is a good game if you hate yourself and want to suffer. At every turn the game is throwing unfair ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ at you, trying to make you lose. It's a challenge, and annoying at times, but it's fun and rewarding.

Renamed it and raised the price - HOWEVER they included all of the DLC into this version of the game free of charge.

I have a love hate relationship with this game. There are a lot of quirks and it's very rough around the edged but it is also a very enjoyable transportation sim if you are willing to work through through the unintuitive features.

The game is not in a good spot right now and there is not a lot of hope of PDX turning it around. What started out as a historical simulation about colonialism, the Protestant Reformation, and the French Revolution over the years has slowly creeped into something that feels like an overly-complicated game of Risk.

Every country feels basically the same to play, and the only difference is the starting situation. Once you've gotten past the first hour of play you're unbeatable. It feels tedious.

If that sounds appealing to you, then go ahead and buy it, but it doesn't feel like a grand-strategy game anymore.
