I hope these fill-in-the-blank mysteries grow into a proper subgenre. This game is alright. It's story is predictable, but fine overall. The visual and audio design is beautiful. The mysteries are easy, have too much redundant information (more often than not "ah-hah" moments are squelched when the information you deduced is told to you directly elsewhere), and aren't twisty enough (the first apparent answer is usually correct).

The biggest problem in this game is that names/words can only be collected at one particular spot each, so you can see a name multiple different times but not have access to it in your notebook yet. This is very annoying, but! it does sometimes add uncertainty about whether a name is important/relevant or not. The second biggest oversight, in my opinion, is showing the player the faces of all the relevant characters from the start of the case, before players discover them. Exploring a crime scene isn't as fun when you know what the victim looks like beforehand. That being said, I think the interrogation scenes are a great experiment and quite compelling. Branching, mutually-exclusive paths could be an interesting next step in that design space.

In a vacuum, as a puzzle game, I would not recommend this game. However, I really appreciate the attempt at expanding the Golden Idol format, and I believe this game is worth supporting and trying out for that gumption alone. To me, this game is trailblazing a newly-settled territory, and I love that.

Edit: I also recommend adding "ctrl+enter" as a hotkey to start a new note when writing in your notebook. It would improve the flow.

I'm not a typically a fan of this genre, but I've really enjoyed Abiotic Factor. It feels scrappy and unfriendly, which I find appealing.

If you have enjoyed games like Unturned, but wished for better progression, and enjoyed the settings and themes in Half Life and SCP, then this game might be right up your alley.

I haven't played it multiplayer yet, but it definitely seems like a great game for that kind of experience.

Genuinely fantastic puzzle game. Works way better than you might expect. It eases you into the mechanics very well, and still ramps up in an enjoyable way.

I so wish that there was a sequel or DLC! I really love this game.

Ok, obviously this game is really bad. Everyone knows that. BUT! There are genuinely some good parts to it and some interesting ideas in it. I think some people on the dev team actually cared.

Still. Definitely cannot recommend.

Absolutely fantastic game. Huge recommendation. Even if you are hesitant about the turn-based party combat, as I was, please pull the trigger on this one. It really is excellent.

Very Elegant design.

Good game, worth playing. Most notable for a very strong combat system, the game also presents with excellent visual style, animation, and audio design. Characters are great, but the story is only serviceable. World building/lore is rich but not sprawling, which I find refreshing for the genre.

Definitely a great game to enjoy for the journey, but I don't feel any strong desire to return to the world of Penglai or Kunlun (and that's okay!)

It's also worth mentioning that this game suffers from the modern soulslike epidemic of multiple healthbar bosses.

Unique and interesting in concept, underwhelming and unsatisfying to play. Is it worth experiencing? Maybe, since it takes a bit over an hour, but I wouldn't recommend anyone to go and seek it out.

People appear to mostly enjoy the game for its visuals and sound design, and those things are good in this game, but that kind of thing doesn't hold much water for me, personally.

The Hypnospace world is so well-realized and inviting that I just want to keep spending time in it. It’s charming and genuinely funny in a very human way. I need to find time to play this more

Really fun game. Just wish there were more items and events (second key when?).

Update: More items have been added! Dev cycle + updates for this game have been really good
