Its actually better than Vampire Survivors (VS).
VS is very passive gameplay after a while, and you just let it play on auto-pilot for the most part.
In Vampire Crawlers, you actively play the entire time. This really adds more depth and feels much more engaging overall.

I've played the first two Stories games, and they were rather good. This one however, is exceptionally better.

Its crazy how that they managed to capture that Monster Hunter "feel" in a turn-based game. All the mechanics are there, in some form or another. Its great.

Absolutely, not just a "spin-off" any more I think.

The unique visual style is awesome and almost worth it all on its own.

The gameplay is really clever. They took one of the most important aspects of roguelike games and focused purely on that, which is decision making.

Everything is a decision where you weigh the possible outcomes, while also planning ahead. Feedback from each decision is broadcasted extremely well back to the player, and creates a very addicting game loop.

Overall, it isn't as deep as those other games people seem to be comparing it to like Slay the Spire or Balatro. Although, I wouldn't say it is shallow by any means. Totally worth it if you like this genre.

Excellent sex education tool.

My younger son was watching me play when the cats started to hump each other, and then gave birth to a kitten. This lead to needing to giving him "the talk" a bit earlier than planned which also informed him of his own coming into existence.

Needless to say, he now looks at me in this weird judgmental way as if to say, "What did you do to my mother!?"

The game is good.
Performance is fine, and as usual people with their potato PC's which can run minesweeper are having performance issues.
The open world is not as good as Elden Ring, but its still decent.

Might be worth waiting for a sale or price drop for some, but overall its a fine game.

Above average for sure, but nothing super amazing or new either.

Its decent, and with some changes could be really great.
It absolutely needs more than 3v3, the pacing is just too slow with the large map and low player count.

The back and forth raid/defend stuff is pretty cool, but again pacing makes it feel like a slog sometimes.

As far as all the negative reviews go, its just being review bombed. I had absolutely no expectations with this game, but that is no reason to just hate it.

Also, performance is totally fine. People still think their old PC with hardware worse than a Switch should be able to run every new game maxed out.

Just superb all around.
The RPG systems and combat are deep and rewarding.

In some ways the game plays like a souls-like game, but with a ton of quality-of-life stuff.

For example, when you die there is no loss of experience or currency, just some durability. Enemies also do not instantly respawn after a death, but eventually over time.
It has the same weight classes for rolling, but having the heaviest one is still playable and just a different, and fully viable style to use--unlike Dark Souls where its generally just not worth it ever.
Resources also respawn over time, so you aren't punished for missing some upgrade material when experimenting with new builds and what not. Healing is less limited and plays a lot more like an Diablo-like action RPG as well.

It still has the rewarding and challenging feel though which is great.

Also, the atmosphere and art style are almost unmatched.
