I gave this a thumbs up because I personally liked this game, with a few caveats. Its a good stealth game when it wants to be, but there are some questionable design decisions and it can be absolutely f*cking obnoxious. You have to be quiet, and that's fine. It's a stealth game. However, there are rooms that are made to railroad you through specific paths between garbage, boxes, avoiding puddles of water or glass, around pipes etc. For the entirety of the game, the character can and often is forced to climb over stuff that is marked. Stuff that is about waist high. But then the game puts you in a room, with some pipes that are crotch level, and you cant cross over them. Like, what?? Instead of being able to go over the pipe, now you're forced to go a different direction, be forced into a pool of water, only to go around the same stupid pipe you were in front of already, all while the monster is around doing it's thing.

Also, the monster. Its kinda cool. Sometimes. Other times it's like WTF. These buggers can't see, can only listen, right? So, I throw a brick across the yard, it hears it, goes to investigate. At this point, you can be standing still, all quiet-like, and the monster screeches after investigating the brick, and starts B-lining it to your very position. what? why? I've had this f*cker straight up follow me across an area after throwing a brick, almost like he's sniffing me out. I loved Alien Isolation, but this particular alien/monster is not well-designed. Every now and then it feels like some sort of game director throws you a bone, and creates a rustling or clanking noise somewhere to distract the alien, so you can quickly but quietly get away from where you are. After that, the alien resumes its patrols. But God forbid you create a distraction yourself by throwing a brick, because that arsehole will immediately come straight for you after it investigates. Suddenly he grows eyeballs.

I dunno, man. I liked the game and the story. It's nothing spectacular. But the amount of times I died because the game decided to screw with me despite me doing everything right had me wanting to quit.

Anyways, games alright.

This game is oddly calming. Once you get over the rage. Also, it's fun. Once you, you know, find your happy place. In your mind. Not in this game. There is no happy place in this game. But it is fun. In a dark souls "you will fail" kinda way.

Great game! Cosmic horror! I'm all for that sh*t. The trip was worth it, even though the ending is lost on me. But that's all cosmic horror stories. Overall, good atmosphere and game. Play it! I beat it in about 15 hours, BUT I did take my time to absorb all the atmosphere and read everything.

Fun adventure game. No quest log, so you have to remember what you're doing and for who or for what. No handholding in this game. Deep deep lore. Missable achievements, so be wary. Combat is alright, albeit a bit simple.

SUBJECT MATTER WARNING: This game is horrific in its portrayal of war, and you will run into and see plenty of dark themes, violence, and everything that you may think of, and not think of, about war. The war in the game is used as a vehicle to tell their story of how long the country you play in has been seeped in violence and war, and why. The game has a DEEP lore, and if you read it all, you will find yourself immersed in a whole other story of why everything is the way it is, and when it started tens of thousands of years ago.

Early Access Review
Game is still Early Access, but man, its a fun SOULS-like with an ARPG look. The gameplay feels weighty and punchy. The attacks must be made deliberately; button mashing will get you killed. I've played everything the current iteration of the game has to offer and its great. The story so far is captivating and the animation/cutscene team really sends it with its visuals. Game is a treat to look at, as well as play. If you like Dark Souls/Elden Ring, and want a different take on the genre, play this. It's solid for what there is at the moment.
