Another day where I wish for an "Ehh" recommendation. It is a good concept, but missing the "Hook".

Raccoin enters the scene with a charming premise: a roguelike coin pusher that clearly aims to capture the addictive, "just one more run" magic of hits like Balatro.

And while the aesthetic and the core concept are genuinely appealing. Much of the strategic "gameplay" feels confined to the shop menus rather than the actual coin-pushing action. Instead of the machine feeling like the heart of the game, it often feels like a secondary task you have to complete to get back to the upgrades.

There is a noticeable absence of urgency. In a roguelike, every move should feel like it could make or break a run, but here, decisions lack weight. Here it is more luck than 100% timed skill.

Despite the fun premise, the moment-to-moment gameplay struggles to pull you in.

Crimson Desert is essentially a Rockstar game set in a high-fantasy medieval world. And it is very darn good at it. If you’ve been waiting for a world that feels as reactive as Red Dead Redemption 2 but with swords and sorcery, this is it.

A Technical Masterpiece
This is, without a doubt, the most beautiful open sandbox world created so far. The lighting, the foliage, and the sheer scale of the horizon are unmatched.

Performance: I have never seen a Triple-A game released in this state. It runs at a constant 80 FPS for me without a single dip, and I haven't experienced one crash. In an era of "fix it later" releases, this level of polish is unheard of.

The Mastery of Systems
There’s been some noise about the controls being "clunky," but I think people are just impatient.

Sure, the controls are a bit complicated at first, but I refer to the sheer amount of systems at play. You aren't just mashing one button; you're managing physics, momentum, and intricate combat stances. You can do it with just clicking mouse buttons. But there is art to it.
After 20 hours, I have personally learned the intricacies. Once you stop fighting the layout and start understanding the rhythm, you realize a lot of it is actually fluid motion. It rewards mastery rather than handing you an easy win.

Final Thoughts
It’s rare to find a game that balances "massive scale" with "micro detail" so well. It’s a dense, beautiful, and mechanically deep experience that sets a new bar for the genre. Don't let the learning curve scare you off, the view from the top is worth it.

Special Call out: I have no idea how they have done it, but a Patch that addresses almost all true negative Feedback on a Monday after a Thursday/Friday Release is unheard. I am impressed.

Nothing will ever beat the sheer weirdness and organized insanity of an Edmund McMillen game. If The Binding of Isaac was a dive into childhood trauma and Super Meat Boy was a test of motor-reflex patience (and anger management), Mewgenics is a chaotic laboratory where ethics go to die. As usual, it manages to be simultaneously repulsive and adorable, a feat only McMillen can pull off.

And if you think, this seems like a lot of money to spend on a small game. Lets talk Scale. The game is a "Massive Litter". The true "McMillen WTF Moment" hits when you finally conquer a major milestone in beating the Junkyard, feeling like a tactical genius, only to look at the completion tracker and realize you’re only at 5% of the game. My schedule for the next six months is officially ruined and I wouldn't have it any other way

Mewgenics is a sprawling, chaotic, and deeply strategic masterpiece of the weird. It’s a game that asks you to embrace the gross and reward your curiosity with endless layers of content.

The hidden queue system is a game-changer because it rewards friendly interactions by matching you with other PvE-focused players, creating a unique "Dad queue" vibe. Instead of the usual "shoot on sight" chaos, it feels more like a social rogue-like where the tension comes from deciding whether to trust a stranger. Cooperation becomes the most viable strategy, making it the perfect experience for solo players who prefer teamwork over constant PvP.

I am sorry, but the gameplay is trash. I have no idea how combat, building and weapon handling is worse than in The Forest.

I understand the Dev wants to not make it to easy.
But after ~40 hrs I can say, there is no skill involved, just praying to RNGesus, and that is just not a fun experience.

Very much a GOTY contender.

Finished 100%. Can recommend, just be warned, it is harder than Hollow Knight.
