Maybe I'm not giving it a fair chance since I played so little of it, but I didn't really enjoy it. The concept of controlling two players sounded cool but the gameplay was chaotic in an unsatisfactory way. I mean aside from the 'genre-evolving' thing where you can control two bodies, all the other FPS elements we've already seen many times now. Economy management, defusals, etc.

This game didn't feel like The Finals on release, where that game's Cashout Tournaments mode was something truly unique in an over-saturated FPS market that we've never seen before - which is why that game garnered the attention it did.

Spectre Divide on the other hand felt like a game we've seen countless times now, but with a gimmick thrown in. It's like a fake unique instead of 'genre-evolving'.

Anyway for tactical/defusal FPS games like this I usually ask myself, is this good enough for me to replace Counter-Strike with? CS2 is still the standard for the occasional 'tactical-shooter itch', and this game doesn't scratch that itch nearly enough as CS2 does.

So why should I play this instead? Well because of the 'genre-evolving' concept of course, but that's not enough for me so I'll just stick to the other one.

Exhilarating arena-styled PVP, that plays out like a live game-show tournament. The game feels so refreshing with lots of potential.

This game deserves a Steam Award this year.

Nice straight-forward cooperative FPS game when you're playing with a large group of people, or if you're a fan of the Starship Troopers franchise. It needs some stability work though.

343 is now under new leadership and in my opinion for the better. With the season 5 update, the game has more content like Forge AI, firefight, new maps and modes, and ranked arena changes. Other features that were missing on release that's now in the game are a custom games browser, and a progression ranking system. There's something for everyone - both casual and competitive players. This is how the game should've released and it's really fun.
