If I had to sum this game up in three words, it would be 'short but sweet'. One for fans of walking simulators, point-and-clicks, etc. Inhabit the metaphorical shoes of an AI assisting a xenobiologist exploring the first known extra-terrestrial life in the universe.

Pros: Space lesbians, science, fascinating worldbuilding, lovely chill soundtrack
Cons: kinda short, no achievements (if you're an achievement junkie), no trading cards (if you're a trading card junkie), ending is slightly abrupt

at its core this is 'just' a walking sim/memory game. and that, on its own, is. it's fine. yes there are jumpscares and weird ♥♥♥♥ but the scariest thing here is the impeccable atmosphere. the endless identical corridors lined with identical tile and lit by merciless fluorescent strips which will be familiar to anyone who's made the mistake of venturing onto a subway system alone late at night. the constant checking and double checking of your surroundings - was this different last time? what if i missed something? oh god i'm at loop 8 i just need to make it through one more corridor and i'm free- but what was that noise? is it normal for the tiles to look like that? wait, where are the lights-?

games like this make me wish steam had a 'neutral' option because i didn't dislike this game but idk

pros: very 'wholesome' vibe (maybe a con if you're not into that), multiple solutions to a lot of puzzles, has a playful sense of humour, very satisfying animation/sound work when interacting with puzzle objects. whoever did the main puzzle design has a cat they clearly love very much because this shines right through :)

cons: kinda short, it can be difficult to figure out what a puzzle wants from you precisely, does that modern game design thing where it tries to incentivise you to log in daily for a 'daily puzzle' (for achievements primarily) instead of just. putting all the puzzles in as levels

join a commune and subsist on home grown magic mushrooms gifted to you by a benevolent ai gardener/god. ascend to a higher (digital) plane of being. screw a single father out of his only shot at leaving a crippled space station. or don't and join him and his adorable daughter on their way to an off-the-grid colony world. make friends with a vending machine. be adopted by a stray cat.

a beautiful, ponderous game about language and the cyclical nature of history, of being doomed to repeat one's past and the choice we all have to embrace or reject this destiny. about language and how the way we communicate shapes the way we think, the way we see ourselves and others. about buying geckos, and immediately losing them. and buying more. about the gap between who we are and who others want us to be and who *we* want to be.

pros: gorgeous soundtrack, lovely visuals, cute geckos
cons: the geckos like to escape. nobody seems to have feet. this may actually be a pro
