Must. Build. More. Ships.

That said, Starfield is another excellent BGS game experience it's no Morrowind and suffers from exploration related issues but the primary delivered content (main story, faction oriented content, and NG+) are "quite" good and very playable.

It's as if No Man's Sky and Fallout 4 sat down and had a baby, the gunplay is much improved, the ship combat is decent, the immersion is high, and the only real cons I have are that companions are uninspiring and outpost's are "shoved in" and not quite worth the effort in surveying and building (just buy what you need off vendors).

Looking forward to see what the studio does with this IP going forward.

I'll try and keep this short but productive...

Overall New World is a fresh experience filled with some good ideas and a core experience that has plenty of room for growth and most importantly improvement.

The lack of flying mounts, discouragement of fast travel, and more forces players to actually walk the overworld and explore but also engage in activities as they make for other destinations; I could see mounts in the future but perhaps more for auto-travel and movement while encumbered to move supplies between settlements instead of improved travel speed.

Crafting is honestly quite good, majority of your early game gear will likely come from this as a result and it's fairly important into the mid-game as well as the game requires steep investment into keys to run dungeons etc.

Now onto the bad...

Once you hit about 20-25 you will unlock relevant systems to start running dungeons, these are extremely annoying to prepare for and quite honestly need a lot of work; at the very least if the orbs have to stay introduce a group activity finder that orb owners can use (this would also be useful for portal grouping, etc.) and streamline much of the banter that occurs in the recruitment channel (which can be filled with a ton of irrelevant noise or just individuals saying "LFG"). I don't believe we need an auto-queue system ala WoW Dungeon Finder but we do need some tools to allow players to indicate what they want to run and manage recruitment for that.

Outside of the above, the rest is just nit-picks...

Most tower / structures that use stairs have horrendously bad collision detection, usually causing players to stumble or when mobs are on them for attacks to just "miss" this can occur on pretty much any incline greater than 30 degrees and some locations have stairs that are effectively 45 degree inclines; it's annoying and frustrating.

No form of advanced stat menu, I have no idea what my crit-rate is or my overall tanking metrics let alone potential min. max. hits are; this seems like a big miss for an RPG but I believe a lot of this has to do with the last-minute addition to PvE into the game.

Dungeon design... overall they feel good in terms of ambiance and the basics are there but the mob design doesn't mesh well with having 4~ people in it; mostly because of collision on models, it's very common to end up stuck in a corner with the mobs and other players just beating on each other and some enemies are so large it's hard to tell if you are even hitting them as the damage numbers can clip off screen. Tuning orbs are yet again... stupid painful to craft even for the lower level ones, I think the materials for these need to be looked at or perhaps just have them be a permanent key that players need to craft before being able to run them rather than consumed on use; it's also rife for griefing as they are consumed upon entering vs when the final boss dies.

Anyhow, New World is still in it's infancy and I look forward to seeing it evolve over the years; I can't really recommend it to friends / family at this time though with the issues it has... especially considering I don't know the end-direction the game will take.

Solid game if you want to just play something "different" this scratched a different kind of itch and was almost akin to a visual novel over a game.

For the price the length was solid, mechanics were solid, and the immersion was top-notch; ignoring price I can only say I wish the journey was longer :D

Skip the lunch and get Child of Light; to sum this game up it's really like playing in a graphical novel. My only wish is that the dialog between characters was voiced but I guess one could say by making everyone a mute adds to the narrative.

Overall though the gameplay is great, story is fantastic, and ambient sound is immersive. 5/5 would recommend to ones mother.
