Very fun weird flesh monster game. I recommend it, even if you're not a fan of the genre (like me). Its got a fun story and lots of personality.

If you liked the original Risk of Rain, you should already be adding this to your cart. Its fun, its different in a (mostly) good way, and its got lots charm.

As far as remakes of original indie titles go, Risk of Rain Returns has executed its plans perfectly. I very much enjoy this game and think that if you're a fan of roguelikes you'll likely have fun with it too.

If you've looked this game up online you should not need my review to tell you whether or not its worth it.

Also, try it with mods! I've had a lot of fun customizing the game with the races, classes, subclasses, and feats from 5e and beyond that I felt were missing out a bit.

A roguelike deckbuilder that's very quickly shaping up to be a giant in the space. It's fun, easy to understand, cute, has plenty of personality, and makes the hours go by like they're nothing. If you like other games in the genre, Peglin is definitely worth picking up for its unique combat and charming atmosphere.

The "Halo" of roguelike deckbuilders; Slay the Spire was not the first and (probably) isn't the most popular, but its definitely the one that popularized the genre. Balatro, Peglin, all of the other games that stand at the top of the roguelike deckbuilder hill have Slay the Spire to thank for the inspiration and the work that Mega Crit put in to make a great game.

Even still it stands up to the test of time and decks it out (hehe, get it?) with the rest of them.

A roguelike deckbuilder that's able to stand with the best of them. If you like Peglin, Slay the Spire, or Inscryption, this game is absolutely a game for you. There's not much to it, its easy to wrap your mind around (score with poker hands and whatnot), and its a very fun time waster if you've got the time to waste or the space in your heart to enjoy it.

Inscryption has a very memorable and lovable story. You should try it if you have any love in your heart for roguelike deckbuilders or story-heavy indie games.

As far as roguelike deckbuilders go, Inscryption leaves a decent amount to be desired. Its got a lot of interest to it, and its got replayability and its definitely not a bad game, but purely on its gameplay it doesn't manage to stand with the best of them (like Slay the Spire, Balatro, or Peglin) but its still good. The gameplay takes a really sharp nosedive during the third act, but its still bearable and once you get through the game's third act the ending stretch is well worth it.

If you get Inscryption you are, for the most part, getting the game purely to play its story. However, "Kaycee's Mod" (really just the proper roguelite mode) after beating the game is also worth playing a few times. Winning the challenges gives you lore, which is nice but not necessary to understand the story and shouldn't be your main draw to playing Kaycee's Mod.

There's a lot of problems with this game - don't let anyone tell you otherwise - but its got a lot of amazing things too.

So, things to consider; the anticheat is very much a problem. Kernel anticheat is yikes and the worst part is that it literally does nothing; cheaters can already be found in the game (though, I haven't run into any myself). I have high hopes that the developers might just abandon this in the future.

The game DOES have microtransactions, however you should never have to spend money on them. I've bought every armor piece I wanted in the game so far, as well as the premium warbond (like battlepasses without the FOMO) without spending a single extra dime on the game. As far as microtransactions go, they're really not that big of a deal.

The game is not completely stable, and there are a lot of things that are broken. There's also stuff that's inconsistent, things that the game doesn't tell you, and things that are completely unbalanced.

Despite all of that, and many other minor issues besides, I highly recommend you give it a shot. Play your 2 hours, keep it if you like it, abandon it if you don't.

very good game, very sad, made me cry a lot

I will never forget this game. It's such a beautiful art piece and its so worth reading every line of dialogue and every note you can find, even if you're like me and have a really hard time staying engaged with lots of reading in games.

Even if you don't think the gameplay is for you, regardless of whatever questions you might have, please play this game. Its story alone is worth the price and the time.

tl;dr: get the game. like right now. why are you still reading this- buy the game- i swear to god i will smack you BUY IT.

This game is one of those games you only see once every few years. It's clearly been crafted with love; its filled with little secrets and easter eggs for fans to find, it has a beautiful artstyle, and its gameplay has been expertly crafted to provide a smooth and enjoyable experience.

Very scarcely would I ever dare to say that a game has a movement system as smooth as Titanfall's and, if you grant me the benefit of the doubt, I would say that this game does it. Its not quite as fast or easy but give it a bit, spend the time to learn it, and you'll come to see what I mean.

The game's story is not initially obvious and, up until the day before I bought the game I honestly wasn't even aware it had one. (I know I sound stupid, forgive me, I was an outsider). Its paced amazingly and shakes things up often enough to make it so that you're never quite bored with all of your equipment or lacking in things to improve with. Whether it be new enemies at just the right times, new equipment, or new mechanics this game has a lot to experience and its all laid out expertly.

I've only had this game for a little more than a month and I've P ranked every level in the game (yes, including P-2, which was the only one that took me multiple days) which is absolutely GLOWING praise from me.

The game looks hardcore and at its highest difficulties it really can provide a substantial challenge but even if you're not good with FPS games I implore you - BEG you - to give it a shot. In my opinion, the game is designed to help you get into the groove no matter what skill level you're at and help you improve overtime by introducing just the right amount of content at just the right times.

Seriously, try this game. I cannot recommend it enough.
