Sushi Ben is an incredibly charming, low-stakes game that I was looking forward to once I saw the English VA announcement trailer. Honestly, I wish I could live in a cozy seaside town like Kotobuki. The art style is delightful and the characters are all lovely, especially with the fantastic voice cast behind them. The minigames are simple yet fun, with a nice variety that kept things fresh. God, I could spend all day fishing. None of them ever felt like a grind or overstayed their welcome, which I really appreciated.

I did run into a few soft-locks that required me to reload from my last checkpoint (thankfully, that feature was added during my playthrough) and I did lose some progress on things like collecting daruma. I know the developer is actively working on fixes and I’m confident that everything will be smoothed out soon.

Despite those bugs, Sushi Ben has earned a special place in my heart with its charm and warmth. I can feel the love radiating from this passion project. I’m definitely planning to return for a casual replay in the future. I’m also really excited to see what the dev team does next!
