I'm going to fall in love so hard with this game like how I did with Skyrim, Outward, Fallout...

I got out at night on the last day playing on Skidroad! The crab fight was very very unexpected but I'm glad I had some bandages in the container. The fighting mechanics feels like such a huge system but as a charisma build there really weren't a lot of instances where I had to fight. I had a total of 3-4 fights in my play through. I hope fighting becomes a much more mandatory part of the game because fighting genuinely was fun. This is probably the best game I've played for a long while.

I don't review games much but actually an amazing gem that gives me zomboid + stalker vibes. The combat is surprisingly fluid and gritty. Great stealth action elements. Engaging story line and satisfying progression system. I don't know if it's a solo dev since most of their update posts use 'I', but man they've been very responsive and jumped on my bug report almost immediately. Huge props to them. W devs

I was so excited when I got up from the bed this morning. Now it just feels like they pulled a Cyberpunk. They need another year of development.

The lack of sound design really takes away all the fun from the action-heavy aspect for me. I want to hear the paws tibby-tabby when my character run, my sword slashes making an impactful sound, the electricity sizzling from my paw onto an enemy... So far all of that sounded like nerf guns.

Another thing is how the game front-loads all the story and does the exact opposite of "show, don't tell"... 10 minutes in and I have to absorb almost the entirety of the world's setting. I just want to shoot my gun and feel the world.

Combat is lack luster. Most things feel like bullet sponges and my attacks don't feel impactful at all.

This really reminds me of World War Z's janky animation despite having very nice graphics.

In all fairness to the devs, had it not been a hugely hyped game, we'd probably be sitting at a Mostly Positive right now. All the love to the devs, game development is tough, but reviewing the game for what it is probably more important if the game is to redeem itself.
