Overall I'd say this game is a solid..... 3/10
I have never played the original and came into this as someone playing a final fantasy game for the first time.
I thought hey why not play the latest/newest version of the game, and so I did. I streamed my entire playthrough of the game to twitch and my vods of it can be found on youtube. the game itself had decent performance (was playing it on my steamdeck) and ran fine. the issues i had weren't with performance but rather the game itself. the only highlight of the game is the music. the story itself is just bad, characters are insufferable and incredibly stupid. as dialogue with them would pass by , the more the spoke I could feel myself losing braincells trying to process the brainless things they come up with. but that isn't even the only problem, the controls itself, the gameplay is very sluggish/slow it feels like a half assed attempt to be both a turn-based rpg and an action rpg but fails spectacularly at both. throughout the game there are also random segments where it tries (and fails) to be other types of games with chase scenes and platforming but again doesn't dso any of them right, while also feeling like a massive chore to go through. In terms of graphics can't exactly call what i saw appealing for backgrounds as most of the settings took place in literal ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. the funny part is this isn't even a remake of the full ff7 game. I died laughing when i found out that this was basically just the first disc of the og yet somehow its around 100gb of space required for their bs and they want nearly $100 canadian dollars for this ♥♥♥♥. can't wait for the other 2 parts to make playing this take up 300GB + of space and cost an extra $200 on top. yeah not really I won't even bother with future parts of this remake after the bad taste in the mouth it left.

Death end re;Quest plays quit similarly to the neptunia games.
its your standard turned based rpg with boundaries in which you take turns controlling one of 3 active characters on the feild at a time. like their other games the characters can be set up with in different starting formations before entering battle in a 3 front line 3 support line configuration. At this ponit the similarities towards the neptunia games end.

things that set this game apart:
•interactable obstacles/hazards on the battle area, touching them causes you or enemies to take damage and in some cases grants stat boosts or sp
•game has a pretty big emphasis on moving the enemy and player positions around, when positioning your character to attack an enemy you may want to make note of hazards or other allies or even the boundaries. a straight line will also appear in the direction of your attacking showing the general directions of where you knock things back, enemies can ricochet off each other and off the boundaries of the battle area. additionally if you knock an enemy into an ally the ally will also activate a knockback attack in the general direction that they are facing.
•lastly there are additional gimmicks with the battle area obstacles clearing them fills up a gauge which can be used to do things like summon previously defeated bosses into battle to assist you, temporarily grant buffs/debuffs, or temporarily change the mechanics of the game entirely such as having a slot machine in combat or turning the game into a shooter.

overall the game is pretty fun and enjoyable and is a nice fresh take on the combat system found in other idea factory/compile heart games.

Update to my review:
This game definately had a rough launch however the Day one patch helped iron out most of the issues with this game.
The game itself is pretty short 30 stages with 7 of them being boss battles, 7 Classic Sonic stages (1 boss stage), 9 Modern sonic stages (2 bosses) , 8 Avatar Stages (1 boss), 5 Tag team stages (2 bosses), then theirs the final boss stage which has you paly as all classic sonic and the avatar seperately with all 3 characters present in the final phase. The game also contains 3 levels for shadow, and collecting all 120 red rings unlocks 120 numbered and moon rings to collect but it also unlocks 13 extra/secret stages (5 avatar 8 Modern sonic) whitch have a similar feel to the missions from sonic genarations.

In terrms of gameplay the avatar felt a lot like modern sonic except with an op weapon and no boost. classic sonic wasn't as enjoyable as the tag-team, avatar, and modern sonic stages.

Pros:
•Most of The stages are fun
•Extra/secret stages provide an extra fun little challenge
•Devian art simulator is a ton of fun to mess around.
•completing challenge missions are how equipment and weapons for the avatar is unlocked (no lote crats /cheer)
•lots of replayabillity; Challenge missions, SoS missions, Red rings, Numbered Rings, Moon Medals.
•tons of modding pontential
•Shadow is fully playable in almost all Modern Sonic stages.
•Amazing soundtrack

Cons:
•Game wasn't fully finished prior to launch; day 1 patch was nessary for all platforms.
•not all of the games content fully implemented; sonic and avatar can both wall jump and sonic can drit however these animations remain unused with the exception of the Avatar being able to wall jump in only 1 stage.
•The levels are short... really short if you were to play the game's main story; 30 stages and watch all the cutscenes you'd probly finish the game faster than if you were to listen to the entire soundrack from start to finish.
•The awesome soundtrack gets cut off in certein portions of the game due to the transitions of a boss/miniboss/quicktime event/section change which made me belive that originally the modern sonic, tag-team, and avatar stages were originally intended to be much longer but had portions of their stage cut off.
•Super Sonic was originally intended to be in the game as some sort of unlockable bonus (probably intended to be unlocked afher completing all the extra stages like how it was done in colors) however it was actually made unacessible however dataminers have found it linked behind some sort of dlc which is already in the game and can be modded back in.

Overall I really did Enjoy this game its a solid 7/10 although for the length of the game unless you really into completing the game, doing all the challenges, and collecting all the collectibles It's probably not worth the full $40 and you should definately check this game out if you can get it in a sale. Mods for this game are currently being worked on and slowly coming out so this game will probably be much more enjoyable a few months from now once the modiding scene for this game (hopefully) takes off as the scene for sonic lost world kinda just died even though the game's mechanics could have lead to some crazy mod potential.

Original Review:
Second time Sega of Europe Messed up a sonic game this year.
First with sonic mania and the whole denuvo being added to a game without people knowing, followed by gifting a copy of sonic 1 so that people couldn't get a refund on top of the BS excuse to delay mania.

now with this game.
After completing the space port mission the game is completely unplayable as it crashes upon leaving the score/rank screen upon completion of the second stage. I've tested running this game in every single xompatibillity mode option avaialble in windows 10 along side running it as administrator it doesn't work.

My specs are: i7 6700hq, GTX 1060 6GB, 16GB ddr4 2400.
upon boot of the game the game autmatically maxed out the settings and during the only 2 playble stages I did not experiance any stuttering or frame dips however the fact is the game is atill unplayable past the second stage.

If you liked the first one you'll probably like this one as well
*this takes place in an alternate world from that of the first game
*there are also 9 endings
*apparently the dlc breaks the game and makes you lvl up too fast if thats a problem then disable them
*game also has similar crashing problems to that of the first

How to fix game crash (same as first game)
•Run as admin
•Run as Windows xp sp 3
•Install visual c++ 2013 x86 version even if you are using 64 bit windows

Overall I'm really enjoying this game so far can't wait for the third one to be ported in the fall
