If you are looking to go into an empty server and just roam around enjoying the beauty of the game and doing some hunting and setting up a campfire and just enjoying that survival pve aspect of the game by all means enjoy it and i'm sure you'll have a great time.
If however you're looking for a well made, thought out game to pvp in do not buy this. The desync is terrible, the loot system is usually terrible, the character movement and every aspect of pvp is so awful I don't see how anyone can sincerely enjoy it or vouch for it. I understand it's in "alpha" but come on this game has honestly kept on getting worse and worse and it should have been in a much better place than it is now, two years ago. I don't know if the devs gave up, or they've just run out of funding or whatever but as a fan since the origin of dayz in Arma II this game has turned into a serious disappointment.

The most balanced and well made Battle Royale game out there. No Surprise coming from PU the god of BR ;)
From the movement to the gunplay to the UI it's all very well done and simple to use.
Coming from a competetive and survival player's viewpoint playing games like cs:go at the top rank and other games like arma 2, arma 3, dayz, H1Z1, etc. This is the most polished and well thought out game i've played in a long time and it's rapidly turned into one of if not my favorite game of all time. I played the alpha and didn't like it much. The transformation it went through simply from the alpha to the beta made tremendous leaps forward and already got so much better. I fully place my faith in PU and the team behind this game. They've already showcased their ability to fix different bugs and problems that have rapidly appeared before them and I have nothing but high hopes for the future. If you love the Battle Royale genre, support the best experience you can have and buy the game.
You won't regret it.
