I'm on the *Border-lands* of what to give this game. I think it's just slightly worth more than a negative review.

Gameplay:

As always, borderlands has an extremely addicting gameplay loop. As are most "good" looter shooters. I feel the gunplay is actually a slight improvement from it's predecessors. Being able to click Q and add the gun to the trash category, has found me hoarding guns to sell; amassing a fortune of over 100 million. The guns sound good, feel good to shoot, and there is a wide variety of different ones. Guns are what make borderlands, borderlands. I feel the 4th addition did it justices.

Story:

The story was... eh? Nothing crazy special, the main bad guy didn't have anything really unique about him, I'd say 6/10 at best. Wasn't horrible, just lacked inspiration. No real, "wow" or "didn't see that coming" moments to be found. I wasn't really invested in any of the "good guys" either.

Graphics/Performance:

As many of us experienced at launch, this game was NOT optimized well. My computer is pretty beefy, so I had little issues, but was still running the game at around 60-80 fps, with cut-scenes locked at 30 fps. I probably only crashed once, and I will say, there were almost no bugs I ran into. Graphics kept the classic borderlands feel, with some improvements. If you look past the poor optimization, the game is pretty, and all the world sections feel unique.

Summary:

Overall, I'd give this game a 6/10, nothing crazy special, nothing horrible really. Lackluster story, good gameplay. I would've given it a 7/10, but it's just not worth the price. I'd pick it up on a sale if you're considering giving it a try.

Where do I even start?
This game is INCREDIBLE.

Game play:
Loved every part of this game. From the forge, alchemy, stealth mechanics, and combat. This game was fluid the whole way trough. The combat was a huge improvement from the first game. I actually felt like I could put the work in, and master it's techniques. An overall much easier system. The stealth in this game was top notch! KCD2 truly gave you every possible option to complete missions or tasks. It gives the player the freedom to choose how they want to do something. Your options are ENDLESS! The alchemy.. probably one of the best alchemy mechanics in ANY game I've played. Most RPG/survival or open world games, use such basic methods of alchemy, such as, find a plant or two, put them in a thing, click a button, and BAM... that's it. KCD2 takes a different approach. You actually have to follow a recipe, and ensure you're doing everything correctly, or you fail to make a potion. The recipes are diverse, and there are so many different mechanisms to create potions, you actually have to think just a little bit. The forging is also well fleshed out, and the new forge DLC adds just the perfect cherry on top, and really utilizes every bit of the mechanic.

Story:
The story is well crafted, I love the dialog, and interactions feel like there's real emotion in it. The VAs did a great job with this one. The twists and turns on the last mission were well though out. I wouldn't say it's a story to write home about, but it fits really well into the game.

Graphics + Performance:
I mean, what more is there to say? The game is BEAUTIFUL!! You also don't need the most high end system to run it, let alone experience the world around you. For a studio that I wouldn't say is considered, "AAA", it knock it out of the park with this one. I've had 0 performance issues, and almost no bugs.

Overall 10/10:
I honestly couldn't find anything I didn't enjoy about this game. The start is a bit slower, and takes a little time for you to be confident, but as you progress and get endgame gear and skills, the game is a breeze. I enjoyed every moment..

Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is probably one of the best turn based combat games, if not the best, I've played. Incredible sound tracks, stunning art and visuals, incredible voice acting and just emotion in every scene. Not to mention the game play is really good, smooth; It's like mixing persona and final fantasy, but modernized. This is my game of the year so far, unless something comes along to beat it. Absolute masterpiece so far.

Post beating the game:

WTF WTF WTF WTF,

This is some of the best writing I have EVER seen come out of a game, and I don't say that lightly. I was left speechless at every corner, and had NO idea what was coming next. It's hard to talk about this game without spoiling everything. If you're a fan of story driven games, you NEED to play this. It's not only a fun gameplay loop, but it's genuinely one of the best written, animated, and just good music piece on the market. Absolute cinema. A true work of art.

Pretty odd game.

The story, writing and acting were absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. The simple, rouge like elements and general game play were addictive. Only reason I'd give this game a thumbs up. Didn't run into any bugs during my game.

I'd recommend picking it up on a sale.

Absolutely loved this game. It was a super cute indie game, following Rani and Becks.

Under the crushing burden of a mortgage on their ship, now several payments late, they find themselves on an undiscovered planet, once thought uninhabited. First there to make some money, but instead end up saving the planet! A great journey.
