Didn't really think I'd be into it much until I got gifted the game.
It's really great solo as well!

A lovely and very pretty clicker style game about creating a balanced ecosystem.
Though there's a massive performance issue: The game only runs on a single CPU thread. It runs very well for the most part but as soon as you approach 100% usage the singular CPU core the game uses it begins to struggle considerably. Unfortunately that limit is very easy to reach. If you want to make a complete forest that has one of everything in it and can sustain itself it's sure to struggle a lot, although how much depends on your CPU's single core performance.

I do still want to recommend it because it's a very nice game but if single core performance limitations are a dealbreaker for you then it's a pass...

The game's central conflict isn't resolved and sequel-baits you at the end instead. But despite that slight disappointment I'd still recommend it, it's a pretty good game aside from that.

The only rhythm game that gets funnier the more you mess up

EDIT: My biggest gripe with rhythm games has always been that none of your inputs matter musically. Pushing the wrong buttons doesn't make the music sound wrong which kind of leads to a disconnect. In this game, however, it absolutely matters and with it being centered around an instrument like this with smooth pitch messing up can result in hilariously off sounds to a point where playing poorly can almost be as enjoyable than playing well.

Game can get stale a bit soon due to the rather small variety of pieces to play. I hope lots more will get added and I especially hope for custom tracks to eventually be possible as well.

And if there's one thing I wish this game would implement, though it is unlikely, it would be
microphone pitch detection for input.
So your tromboner can become even funnier by poorly singing into it.

EDIT2: Custom tracks are great and I can't stop making them help

I bought this game, full price, after already seeing like 90% of it from watching 3 different streamers play trough it. None of those remaining 10% were of any major significance to the game as a whole.
Was it worth it? Was it a complete waste of money that I deeply regret? Was it a life changing experience that fundamentally changed my understanding of the world?

Well, it certainly did change my life by 10 hours. I will let you decide.

This is one of the best games I have ever played and it's got a very special place in my heart. I originally bought it on switch when it first came out but it's just so good that I had to get it here on steam too, including the soundtrack, it's one of the best I've heard.
I always gift it to a few people every time it goes on sale. It's the only game I do that with. It's amazing and more people need to experience it.
I highly recommend playing this game!

Early Access Review
This game is some kind of absurd fever dream that you absolutely need to experience. Very short at this point but still absolutely worth the ridiculous experience. I wish there was more games with that kinda spirit!

When I started this game I didn't think I would end up writing a review. I did expect a good game, but not something that good or notable that would compell me to write a review about.

I assumed this was going to be one of these very good games that ultimately would end up being a little too short.
But then the game continued, and continued to be amazing.
In the end, the game ended up being about 3 times as long as I had expected, and there's not a single second I would consider wasted.

Meadow is such a special little game like nothing else.
It's premise of being a mostly social game without any clear form of communication sounds a bit odd at first but in practice it turns out incredibly fun in a way that's hard to express. Interacting with other players is only half of the game. With the limited ways of communication, the simple act of communicating itself turns into sort of a game as well.

It's truly the purest experience of what it's like to be an animal in a playground with other animals.

The various unlockables and collectables are just enough of an incentive to travel around and interact with other people animals. The wholesome interactions and treasure hunting adventures with other cute animals are the a great way to wind down and relax!

An extremely lovely game and one of the most exhilarating online social experiences you can have.

The nature of this game makes it a really safe space for people who usually wouldn't feel very comfortable in most social settings.

Side note, a lot of people criticize the fact that a few of the animals are only accessible by buying M&D's other games. It's definitely a really odd way to do DLC, but on the other hand it's really unique too and if you want to see it from another perspective it's kinda neat that your DLC also includes a whole separate standalone game as well.
