The game is amazing. Capcom nailed it.

This game is pretty sweet! If you're a fan of spectacle fighters, this will be right up your alley. It's closer to DMC than any other of the big ones in the genre, but still manages to do its own thing and put a spin on the whole combo management system. I would say if you do not normally play games in this genre, you might have issues with the camera and possibly the difficulty of the game (your performance is rated based on how much score you achieve, how fast you beat an encounter/stage, and how much damage you sustain during combat). I'm running the game on max settings at 1440p on a decent rig, with no issues. There was some stuttering during the prologue but once I actually started Act 1 it has been flawless. Currently on Act 2 and looking forward to slaying more.

This is my first time playing a fighting game by Arc Systems.

Overall, the game plays very well, isn't overwhelming to learn, and is very nice to look at.

There aren't too many moves or mechanics in the game so newbies don't need to worry about investing a lot of time before you get to "play the game." Writing this as of launch the playerbase is quite healthy. Finding matches online only takes a couple seconds. Online netcode is decent, but it isn't rollback netcode if you're looking for that. 3 bar connections for the most part have been very playable, and not laggy. Anything higher than 3 bar has almost felt like playing local.

Remember that DOA is a more technical fighting game than the average, before you purchase. The gameplay is smooth and consistent here. Online matches are very quick and the bar representation for connections is extremely honest. I haven't had a 5 bar match here that felt like anything less, unlike a ton of other fighting games. The training mode is fantastic and is what other fighters should aspire to be. There are detailed tutorials, combos, challenges, etc. You can queue for a ranked match while in practice and it's near instant once it finds one, unlike other fighters where there's at least 5-10 seconds of waiting time for each opponent. You can literally have 3 challengers within 3 seconds, whereas in another game you'd have one in 15-20 seconds.

The UI is pretty good, but I've heard there are some technical setbacks in the UI field if you play above 1080p, so beware of that. Speaking of that, the whole game looks great in 1080p, but again, I've heard it doesn't scale up well past that and may have performance problems in 4K. The game doesn't stutter and doesn't crash, at least so far I've had absolutely zero problems. If you want a fun and good-looking (you know what I'm talking about) fighter for your collection, it's worth checking out.
