love that people are review bombing a (opt in beta branch) patch that addresses some of the biggest problems everyone had with the game (infinites were too easy to attain and were the only consistent way of winning runs)
this patch was not all bangers, skulking colony did not deserve a buff, but jesus man if you don't like changes put them in the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ feedback section in the game

GOOD GAME PLEASE PLAY IT I BEG YOU

COMBAT AND STRATEGY

I've been waiting for a while to play a game that makes me feel the same way as FEAR, and holy ♥♥♥♥ does this game do that for me. I just finished chapter 1 on captain difficulty and every encounter was so hard that I was forced to engage with the mechanics more consciously than any other game I've played.

ACTUALLY ♥♥♥♥ STRATEGY

Don't get me wrong, strategy is important in almost every encounter. It's just that sometimes that strategy is "heehee i slide in with my shotgun and shoot the guy." My comparison with FEAR still stands, this game's guns are so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ beefy and you are bound to have fun with them.

SECRETS

there's so many ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ secrets man i was scouring the world for them and i only got like half there's so many it's so cool.

I got "100% completion" in this game on hard mode in under five hours. However, after beating the game, you get two new difficulties that will kick your ass into oblivion. One of them is Arcade, where the game is structured more like an arcade bullet hell, and the other is Ridiculous. You'll always die in one hit and enemies have more complex bullet patterns. I'm currently stuck on stage 2 in ridiculous. PLEASE play this game it's so cool. Even if it didn't have the extra difficulties I'd feel like the game's worth the money.

THE MOST VIDEO GAME

To give an idea of how I feel about this game, I already felt as though it was a worthwhile buy after less than an hour of playing. This game allows you to set your FOV to 180 and, as if that isn't enough, you essentially have eyes in the back of your head, with a red outline of enemies that are close enough behind you. It's extremely overwhelming and confusing when you first see it, but as you play you attune yourself to it as if you're actually getting used to having an extra set of eyes.

This game plays pretty similarly to its predecessor, Devil Daggers, but has some key differences. In Devil Daggers, your goal is to survive for as long as possible, and use previous knowledge to form a strategy that allows you to do so. In Hyper Demon, your goal is to kill as many things as possible, as quickly as possible. You're constantly losing points and the only way to get more is by killing more enemies, which spawns more enemies for you to kill for more points.
Devil Daggers is a survival game. Hyper Demon is a murder game.

Please buy this game, it is so worth it. This review only scratches the surface of what makes the game good because I can't do everything justice.

this game is literally pay to win. it takes around 20 hours *or* 10 dollars to unlock one of the mobile suits that actually makes the game playable. unicorn gundam, one of these unlockable mobile suits, literally gives its team armor and constant healing. if you have unicorn gundam on your team, you win. if not, you lose. you do not have unicorn gundam on your team, ever. literally pay to win. the progression system is so unfathomably ♥♥♥♥♥♥ that you won't unlock anything substantial for the aforementioned 20 hours. the game is conceptually pretty fun, but at this point you're actually better off playing literally anything else. i'm playing hyper demon now because it's a real game for people who want to have fun, not torture themselves.

game's got rollback, and it's the good ♥♥♥♥, none of that teleporty garbage you get in some other games. 300 ping was perfectly playable.

more importantly, big man with funny special leveling system

Holy ♥♥♥♥ is this game good. Before I get into the meat of this review, I'd like to air my criticisms first because I don't want to end a positive review with critiques. There are some problems with this game right now. Mainly the fact that it's not finished and after you've gotten all secrets and all P ranks it can feel a little bit hard to do anything more. Aside from that it's just a bunch of mechanical nitpicks that don't even begin to put a dent into the experience this amazing game.

I'm personally a huge fan of both DMC and Retro FPS games so this just hit my daily routine like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ truck. It was pretty easy for me to get into since I already like both genres it's a part of but this game is so good that if you like either one then you'll love it. It's not particularly hard to 100% this game but even after you've done that it just feels so good to play that you won't want to stop. Which is why it's a damn good thing there's an endless mode. The Cybergrind is an arena made out of cubes that will shift into different arenas for each wave, making it so that the gameplay stays pretty fresh while you just keep kicking ass. If you buy this game, even before the update that adds act 2, it's probably gonna be the best $20 you spend for the whole year. If you don't want to buy the game, the demo is so fun you can sink 20+ hours into it alone, which should definitely tell you how good the full game is gonna be.

This is an amazing game to play if you have had trouble getting into a Monster Hunter game in the past. It streamlines pretty much everything and makes clear all of the confusing mechanics from other games. It still has a lot of problems though, as the hub menu is a huge area and it can take forever to just do some basic tasks. Overall, you should definitely play this game. It actually got me wanting to play more games in the series since it helped me understand everything better.
