Early Access Review
Valheim is one of the greatest games I've ever played. The survival-crafting loop is incredibly well-realized, the combat is challenging, and building is an absolute joy.

It's got rough edges. But in some ways, I feel like many of those rough edges add to the feel of the game. And hey, if any aspects of the game bug you, there is a thriving modding community!

The Pedestrian is not a very long game, but it is quite memorable. It is atmospheric, contemplative, and beautiful (as long as you don't work for Blarg Tech).

As a puzzler, it is very solid. The central gameplay mechanics are quite unique and fun to control. And perhaps most importantly, the developer iterated upon those central mechanics; each new chapter adds some new element, a twist to shake things up — ESPECIALLY that last one. No spoilers. 😇

The puzzles keep a nice moderate difficulty curve that keeps you engaged as you get more familiar with the game. Most of the puzzles felt very satisfying to untangle without being too challenging — with a couple of notable exceptions that had me feeling so stumped I had to step away and try again later!

All in all, if you're looking for a new puzzler, definitely give The Pedestrian a go. There's no other game like it, and it's very worth its price tag.

If you like Metroidvanias, Hollow Knight is 100% a must-play.

• Controls are smooth as butter.
• Combat has a nice range of difficulty. Bosses are tough but their patterns are completely learnable.
• Exploration is AMAZING. Once you get a few biomes in, it really opens up wide.
• Progression is deeply satisfying. Money is always useful. There are straight upgrades, powers to unlock, a Paper Mario: TYD-like badge system, NPCs to meet, a town to grow, fast-travel hubs to unlock. So much.
• The art is incredible, and so *dense*. Every screen is unique and packed with background/foreground objects.
• The music is somber and intense. Fits the atmosphere perfectly.
• The story is mysterious and compelling.
• There's some nice comedic relief without it being too goofy.
• There is a LOT of content.

Honestly, Hollow Knight gives Super Metroid a run for its money. It blows Super Metroid out of the water in terms of content, though the design may not be quite as tight and flawless.

Anyway. GET IT.

This is the most boring acid trip I've ever been on.

I know it didn't cost me any money, but it cost me time. Games shouldn't *cost* time.

In all fairness, the art was interesting and stylish. The animations were basic, but serviceable.

But the pacing was terrible, the sounds were jarring, the music was the most obnoxious droning, and the puzzles ("puzzles") were unintuitive and boring. Why did I have to do the kitchen puzzle three times? Pointless. About 2 minutes into this, I was just waiting for it to be over.

If this was a student project, It would deserve an A. But there's no reason this should be consumed by the public. Don't waste your time.
