Fantastic game but the net code needs a lot of work. You can't narrow matches by region or connection quality or even see ping, and lag results in not only input delay but also severe slowdown throughout the match which makes it an over-all fairly unenjoyable experience. If I'd bought this for full price this would be a deal breaker but at 50% off I think the single player content makes it worth your money.

Having played a ton of Armored Core 4 and For Answer when I was younger I was pretty excited to see something clearly taking inspiration from AC on Steam, but I'm sad to say that this doesn't really stack up. Near non-existent resource management coupled with hard lock-on makes combat brainless and unsatisfying, leaving you effortlessly mowing down hordes of unchallenging enemies even when you can barely tell what's going on.

For a narrative game, Cibele doesn’t have a particularly compelling narrative. Though the synopsis is interesting, the execution feels rushed. Rather, the game’s biggest strength is probably how real it can feel; anyone who was a weeb in the late 2000s would be hard pressed not to find familiarity in the badly drawn fan art, blog archives, and chat logs which litter Nina’s desktop, as well as the supporting cast which makes its appearance through the chat windows of her MMO of choice. It’s disappointing, then, that this sense of authenticity is at times let down by the strained dialogue and bad acting of the two main characters, with the added bonus of amateur cinematography in the live action cut scenes.

Despite its downsides, Cibele’s short length keeps it from overstaying its welcome and makes it worth a play through if you’re interested in a short interactive experience and can relate to the setting it sincerely and successfully manages to recreate. Wait for a sale, though.

The game's pretty early in development so there's not much content or polish, but what's there is already fun af and very promising. Don't buy this yet if you want bang for your buck, but do consider it if you like Wipeout and want to help support R8's efforts to continue the series.

This was my first PC game and something I spent hundreds, if not thousands, of hours playing when I was a kid, so I won't even try to review this with any sort of objectivity

Pros: Everything
Cons: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Deep, fun combat and a really cool and unique setting. Great OST and Art too.

Pretty fun gameplay bogged down by lazy and uninspired everything else. An option to turn off the weak attempts at exposition delivered by the cheapest russian accent money can buy that randomly come on while playing would've been nice.

Equal parts fascinating and terrifying, with impeccable atmosphere throughout. SOMA is a must-play.
