This game is an absolute blast and the art is stellar. The fact that every character has tons and tons of voice lines simply makes this a must play if you like rouge-like games. It IS hard - 29 hours for me to beat the main story and I had to turn on god mode about 5 hours into it, and it was STILL hard (each failed run adds 2% damage resistance, I think it starts at 20% - I finished at 70%).

Fun and basically simple gameplay, but a TON of replayability and customization options with all of the spell ingredients you can unlock. Relatively short game overall, but supports New Game+ and is really just a simple but fascinating little game with puzzles, traps, turrets, clones, shields, effects, treasure, and so much more.

I hate to say it, but this game is simply too simple. It is the strategorical equivalent of Monopoly. Yes, it's light, it's simple, and the tactical battles can be a little fun. But there is no real resource management or troop management or build management. Everything you want to build, is built instantly on your turn. New ships, ship upgrades, planetary upgrades, cities, even wonders. If you have the resources, you could win by building a ton of cities or wonders in a handful of turns. There are no tough decisions about building 5 small units or planetary upgrades instantly or building 1 large unit or wonder that will take a few turns to generate. All of my turns devolved into - have energy, build/upgrade my fleet - DONE! Have food? Add cities. Have science? Research something - BOOM, added to all your ships or planets. It is way way too simple.

If they ever add multiplayer, it might might give this some more potential. As it is, skip it if you truly enjoy 4x games. I feel I get more strategy from Clash of Clans than Starships...and for a Firaxis and Sid Meier title, that is a deplorable thing to consider.

If you enjoyed Portal 1 or 2, you will probably enjoy this game. It doesn't feel as complete or refined yet but it's an early release and the gameplay is definitely there and I had to think to solve the puzzles. I'm not sure yet whether combining the puzzle aspect and futuristic puzzle elements (lasers and such) with the castle setting and mystical quest works or not, but that will take a more thorough playthrough of more of the game than is available in this public beta test. It ran very well, it played nicely and offered a challenge. Give it a shot if you like puzzles!

Puzzle challenge: 4/5
Overall: 3.5/5 - I'm not 100% convinced on the storyline and mixing the puzzle in the historical setting, but overall I had fun.

I honestly can't decide whether to recommend this game or not. Decent story, decent gameplay and mechanics, basic fun space shooter. What I can't get over is that a cheat is pretty much required for mission #4, and that I beat the whole game in 5 hours with one cheat after spending a couple of hours stuck on that one mission. I want to say 2.5 or 3 out of 5 stars...which I guess for Steam means not to recommend. There are better space fighting games out there.

So much fun and so many hours in this game over the last 12 years. There are 3 copies of this game within the house and all 3 of us are LOVING IT! I've seen a couple of very very minor graphics glitches, but I was also alt-tabbing out of the game now and then. I hope they add some more units or god powers, but beyond that, there's nothing I'd change. GRAB IT!!! :D

This is an engineer's puzzle game!! Picture having a virtual factory with simple "pipes" and controls that push atoms and molecules around - you have to take the inputs, add/remove bonds, and build the new molecule before sending it to the output area and dropping it in the tank. You have to worry about timing, collisions, synchronizations and more. ADDICTIVE!!

What's better than a gravity gun to lob grenades or toilets into unsuspecting enemies faces? Get it here. Seriously....come get some, if you dare. :D

This game is an absolute riot and blast to play. No MP support, but the SP game is a ton of fun and some of it is extremely challenging.
