It's so painful playing this game, seeing the potential and fun but it's all under an unbalanced unoptimized game that is asking for £22.99 off-sale and £18.39 with it's launch week discount as of making this review.

This is a game I would love to recommend, a game I would love to play in the long-term but currently I can't even stomach 10 minutes of it. Even when the game is running at 60 fps and doesn't crash during a fight, the combat is so tediously random - Sometimes your blade will slash a limb or and other times, it just hits their cheek like a summer kiss despite swinging full force. I've even had unfortunate trips where I'll knock down someone and their weapon will fly into my legs, knocking me down and sometimes even slashing my leg causing me to have to give up.

In a game that likes to show off it's cool blades in the promotional material, you'll find out that weapons like the Flail are better to use because of how inconsistent weapon swinging is, at least with the Flail it's able to at least knock down opponents pretty well.

It was fine in the demo, but for some reason the EA release of the game turned the Abyss into an abysmal fight against tanky zombies that are meant to jump and nibble you down. The issue is, once you get any sort of armour, you're practically invincible and that combined with the health regen system, even if they knock you down, they're essentially just wasting your time and you're better off quitting to main menu to restart the run. The issue is that the abyss now just feels like a thing to waste your time, it doesn't actually punish you for mercilessly killing people by giving you hard opponents, it punishes you by wasting your time.

I'd say to avoid this game and just stick to watching content creators play the game, it's more fun that way.
Playing the game itself is miserable and I'd rather play anything else until it's actually fixed, which is a shame I can't get my money's worth until then.

By buying this game, you're essentially throwing money at the dev and hoping he actually continues fixing the issues.

If you can put aside the suggestive content, like revealing outfits and lewd dialogue, it's actually a little fun RPG game to play

Even has Multiplayer, perfect for the people that want to treat it like a short-term MMO that isn't annoyingly grindy

Overpriced skins in a game with so much visual noise that basically makes it hard to see your own character at times, you got players bouncing all over the place, everything causing big particle animations and Chao pets everywhere

On top of that, it's so repetitive and clunky, randomly going from 2nd place to 6th place because a robot bee spawned on top of me is not fun, SEGA

Finally, a good racing game that isn't locked to a mediocre handheld

This game gave me arthritis

It's just maps from the asset store that don't even work for this type of game.
Dying isn't the threat, it's having a zombie or dog just hog a doorway because the AI get stuck on random crap.
It's just painfully mediocre, I really wish the maps were built from scratch, it is not fun fighting in a house because how the hell am I meant to do the objective to unlock PaP when there's a zombie in every doorway?

And then on top of that, ALL THE GUNS DO THE DAMAGE OF NERF GUNS?!
IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE THAT I HAVE TO RELY ON A REVOLVER FOR DAMAGE BECAUSE EVERYTHING ELSE HITS LIKE I'M SPITTING AT THEM WITH TINY WATER PELLETS

Mercenaries mode is the only redeeming thing about this game, it's super fun to just sit back and blast hordes as Leon Kennedy.

Also the dodging is super fun and looks badass when you perfectly dodge an attack.

Don't ask me about the Campaign stories though, I fell asleep through most of them due to the really bad writing.

Performance differs, runs well on the Steam Deck at a consistent 60 fps if you turn everything to low.
Hoping they fix the fps drop that happens when a horde appears on screen.

Apart from that, is good game 👍
Just don't buy it expecting to instantly find a match, it's a tiny TINY player base so you're better off going into the Discord server to find people to play with.
Singleplayer experience is decent as well, the bots will get stuck on stuff but they'll just teleport if their pathing doesn't unstuck them.

It ain't no scam game 'cause there's effort in this.

I can see myself coming back to this game once they iron out the issues.

If you want a good SP Tarkov experience, even though this only has one map currently alongside performance issues, I still somewhat recommend giving it a try.

I originally had this review set to negative and mentioned there's not really much to do once you hit the level cap and max everything out, then Sony decided to take the game away from a big % of the playerbase and of course I ain't happy when the community-built game loses the community part.. Even though I couldn't refund to hurt Sony's wallet, I did my part in giving Sony a middle finger on Steam to let them know this game deserves better.

I may not like the current state of the game but it's a game I want to see thrive and get good updates due to how unique it is and how much the community means to it.
I'm also glad this is the first game that made Sony question forcing their garbage 3rd party account requirement on PC players who just want to enjoy a damn good game.
