Alright, let's be real in the first couple of sentences: the full price of this game is easily worth it.
Solid art direction, composing that always feels diegetic (at times hauntingly beautiful), and concepts that are profoundly interesting. This game is a well-constructed product, not today's garbage that was released haphazardly and has nothing going for it.
If you like this genre of games, and honestly you are too stubborn for your own good, this is a game for you. Full stop. Buy it, support the devs, play it.

Now let me add the longer review here. Maybe spoiler warning?

Let me start with me NOT being a target audience for this type of game — platformers, that is.
I'm a long-time FPS player and a huge fan of the Soulsborne series, so even if the whole game wasn't for me, aspects of it were right up my alley.

This was the first game that I played where every time I beat something that was difficult for me, I immediately felt dread about “What’s coming next?”. The inner grace period of beating some difficult stuff was drained out of me pretty fast. In the end, I managed to finish it, 100% it, and got the true ending, so I would consider this done.

Now, let me be dramatic for a sec and say I have completed almost 50% of the game out of spite or stubbornness. I have had moments where I seriously considered just stopping right there and uninstalling. If Act 1 was just like Act 2 — or, God forbid, Act 3 — I would have quit it for sure. It was because of that first couple of bosses and gauntlets where I was kind of hooked on the tight combat, visuals, and the way the game was feeding me dopamine hits on an IV. Then Act 2 rolls around the corner and the game fully lets you know that “We are not in Kansas anymore...” and starts to not pull its punches. But apart from a couple of encounters, I felt like, “Yeah, this is end-game type stuff, I’m cool with this.” Then Act 3 rolled around and I felt like I was getting folded in the ring of an MMA fight. Just punched down as soon as I stood up — BAM! — back down you go, and after some good old-fashioned groundwork, when I got up and eventually won, I was just tired and wanted to not be there.

Didn’t help that in Act 3, I practically had to look for the next fight and the next pounding for an hour before I either found the obscure hidden wall or a friend gave me hints so I could find it.

I refused to use any guides or any maps, and tried to finish the game just based on gamer instincts and visual direction. The game does give a lot of hints in the visuals, but not nearly enough for Act 3, as you are supposed to not find these… I assume, anyway. My friend who beat the game did feed me some hints when I was truly stuck, but otherwise I was going from point of interest to point of interest until I ran out of obvious points.

So, to cut this review short, I personally feel like, as a product, I can respect it, and to whom it may hook in, it should be a worthwhile endeavour. But for me, I’m keeping this 100% save as a reminder to myself that I’m not too old to beat hard games YET — and then promptly uninstall it.

Anyways, thanks for the read. Have a good day.

The game could be fun if every 2nd player you play in ranked wouldn't be a guy turtle-ing, constantly holding backwards, maybe shooting fireballs at you waiting for you to either get bored and press or for you to die of old age.

Seriously why do people like this exist? You came to play a fighting game and you load up matches to not fight?

It feels like a Pay Day mod for Call of Duty. Where is the personality? I feel no PayDay in this game. The systems are good the gun play feels smooth however I refuse to believe a 556 AR needs 3 head shots to cops on normal. This game for now feels like a washed down version of payday.

I love it how every year the quality of these games are dropping rapidly. Couple years ago the player models resembled humans now the look closer to fish people from HP Lovecraft's world. Why include the cheerleaders if they look horrifying just axe it. Coach's mouth don't even move when its time out. Refunded.
