The Good: Gameplay is mostly improved, gunplay is considerably better. Sliding and slamming is neat early game but becomes largely useless and unsafe late game. Sound design is really great, music is -fantastic-.

The Bad: The writing is some of the worst dreck I've ever had the displeasure of experiencing in just about any game I've played. I thought that The Pre-Sequel had taken the cake for that, but Borderlands 3 comes along and makes the Pre-Sequel look like Hemmingway by comparison. Would it have killed them to come up with a cohesive framework of a story?
Why do so many characters add nothing to the narrative or the game experience, and simply grate with an excessive glut of voice lines?
Why did established characters from better written games (TFTBL) get turned into absolute buffoons?
Why did they attempt some kind of strong female character narrative only to fall facefirst into the mud and kill strong female characters off completely, defeating the purpose?
Why were there so few side quests that actually felt fun and goofy, as had been a well established hallmark of the series?

The Ugly: This game is a glitchy mess. Graphical bugs happened constantly in my playthrough with friends. Overlays would get stuck on, dialogue would cut out or not play at all, guns would often fail to reload or we'd be unable to switch out weapons, music would often not play for some people but play for others at random points, etc etc. Oh, and Moze's Nuke launcher completely muted 99% of the sounds for all players when used repeatedly. Hopefully at some point the community will be able to fix what Gearbox's (apparently unpaid/underpaid) employees couldn't figure out in the first place.

I recommend this game but with heavy caveats. If you hold plot and dialogue in high regard, this game will defecate into your face and ears repeatedly, and this is coming from someone who has played through all previous Borderlands games several times.

Bought this game 6 years ago, as many did. Thought it was great fun, but just needed more stuff.

Radio silence, sudden surprise.

Not sure what the point of it all was. Why have roaming mobs if they'll decimate you immediately, and also offer no reward if you manage to grind one down? Why power up and loot and then trip and drop it all down a sewer grate for incremental upgrades over and over? Is this a clicker game in disguise?

I just don't get it. Not worth 20 dollars unless you have -exceptionally specific game needs-, AKA your name is Wollay. Sorry man, didn't hit any high notes for me.

It isn't good. Don't play it.

If you don't want to have your base intelligence insulted at every corner, don't play this. Play -anything- else.

It's like Nuclear Throne falling down a Metroid tunnel with Bayonetta gunshoes. For 3 dollars you can't go wrong.

Fast paced fun with plenty of replay value.

9/10 would recommend.
