First things first, I'm coming from ToS with 650+ hrs, and after buying TiS day one I had my worries about this game.
So here's the thing: I'm having fun. Returning players will likely enjoy this, and I'd encourage new players to give it a shot.

It feels less predictable, and kingmakers aren't really a thing now (I think).

Reworked roles are a but confusing at first, but the new roles are quite fun.

The new tagging system is great for the writing "workflow".

For the people complaining about the UI: Yes it's a little cluttered, but let's be fair, the game's about typing and finding info. Would be kinda tough without the UI. And you can minimize it.

The graphic style is a plus, it's a matter of taste as it always is. ToS 1 is heavily outdated.

Honestly, I played this game some time ago. At that point, I would have given it a positive review. HOWEVER I believe this game has potential. It might have been a mediocre experience, but I had fun chasing the gold stars. It had some major setbacks - the difficulty curve, random control glitches, and it even removed my data once. Considering how Super Meat Boy Forever turned out... This game can surpass that one for sure. If these things are fixed, it could actually be great. Therefore, positive review.

This game is a complete trash circus - in the best way possible. Didn't get any The Game Awards nominations, but I think they put up the wrong game. It's not -the- game of the year but it certainly is a game of the year.

If you for some reason wanted a game with toots and baboons, good for you.
If you didn't, still good for you. It's the game you didn't know you needed.
ALSO mod support. Adds more clowns to the circus.

I really hoped for a game I could recommend, but things have just been going downhill since April to the extent I'm almost doubting BlankMediaGames' survival.

Day one, there was a lack of tutorial for new players (who didn't really expect an Amogus clone). And as many have mentioned, classic mode died quickly. And the recent F2P move... How will it fix this? The so-called premium mode we got is *drumroll* the base game we payed for. That's it. New players are left with a dead game mode. As a matter of fact, some Steam friends removed this game from their wishlists -after- the game going F2P. This is why marketing and first impressions are crucial.

With that said - Town of Salem is still good and active, do consider that game instead.

As others have mentioned, the font is a fatal flaw in this game. I often had to look twice, and by then it was too late. The keyboard input stops responding randomly in every game. It's a nice and simple concept, but it falls flat due to these two game breaking issues.
