My main gripes are with some of the controls and it not doing to do what it says I can do. There's a nice amount of depth in unit customization and class builds, but some classes are more useful than others the further you level them. There are even options to make any aspect of the game easier or harder for yourself. Wanna amp enemy damage/health? Sure. wanna fight more enemies more often. Scary, but that's what you choose. Wanna make everything a walk in the park? You'd lose the ability to get achievements but yeah you can do that.

The sounds in this game is great, you hit something hit a big ax, you can feel it; shoot someone with a snowball looking projectile, yeah sorry, it totally is a snowball; wanna shoot a tesla arch-gun with splash damage, oh it's nice. That isn't even counting the sound of any of the units moving and taking actions, 'cause those are great too.

My god the music. Get the Omnissiah Edition, you won't regret it.

The story sadly I didn't pay attention to my first play-through. You do missions for some Tech Magi (think tech Bishops if you are unfamiliar with 40k lore.) and each have their own goals and rewards. Depending on your choices the other Magi banter back and forth on what they want to achieve.

This was more or less my first turn-based game I've played to completion and I'm glad I bought it. On sale or not it's a worthy purchase, in my opinion.
