EDIT 2: The overwhelming negative response has pushed SIE to reverse course on the mandatory PSN account link. Congrats to Arrowhead Games for successfully negotiating this win for your playerbase. I hope you're able to win back some of the goodwill that Sony lost for you.

EDIT 5/5/2024: I originally posted this before Sony (the publisher) started requiring mandatory PSN account linking, a move that has resulted in the game being removed from sale in many countries where PSN accounts aren't available. This move is highly ♥♥♥♥♥♥, and I think SIE missed the part where Super Earth are the baddies. Love the game, sympathies to the devs at Arrowhead for the corpos ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on their game like this, but FU Sony.

A beautifully satirical send-up of American jingoism, xenophobia, worship of the military industrial complex, and the replacement of patriotism with extreme nationalism, Helldivers is what you get when you look at Starship Troopers and think, "You know, the satire and political commentary here is just too subtle, let's say it a little louder for the people in the back." Plus it's married to an addictive gameplay loop, with a fairly fixed time limit on how long a mission can take so you can know how long you're committing for before you even drop.

There have definitely been some technical glitches, they've mostly been getting better. If you're rocking an AMD GPU, make hella sure your drivers are the latest version (one version back I had extremely bad issues with the game freezing for 8-10s at a time, disconnecting me from my squad and leaving me by my lonesome at the mercy of too many enemies). There have definitely been some balance issues (fire, anyone?), they've mostly been getting better or are at least on the roadmap to get better. That said the devs have been in general super open and communicative with the community through Discord, which for me at least helps soften the blow when there are issues, to know that the devs are paying attention and care about our experience.
