TL;DR Great game. Easily ~100+ hours if you want to explore pretty much everything, and take your time in enjoying the game and getting immersed.

Great writing.
Choices throughout felt weighty, morally grey, open to subjectivity, often rewarding you for paying attention to dialogue and the world-building, and made me consider the consequences. Loved the plot, and world-building. And they don't shy away from thinking outside of the box in terms of quest design/plots, and turning tropes on their heads where it circumvents your expectations.

Voice-over scales from amazing to decent.

Combat is fun.
A step up from the likes of Skyrim for example, it feels like the next step up, feels like it has impact, with a strong variety of builds / ways to play split between the talent trees, gear socketing system, and the unique properties of gear itself.

I played a two-handed crit/parry build, specifically using a sword where my damage doubled when I parried enemy attacks, resulting in a rewarding melee combat loop that kept me more engaged. Sprint attacks would carve upwards, and when killing an enemy they'd be thrown/ragdolled upwards with the momentum of the sword (very satisfying).

The magic system is cool too, a lot of spells to play around with, although I only dabbled in it personally.

Beautiful, but dark world.
It definitely has some souls-like 'vibes' with some of the dark tones presented throughout the game, but it's great to explore, things hidden all over the place, whether it's loot or optional caves or mini-bosses, lore areas, etc.

Great music.
Surprisingly good music, zones have their own theme which lends itself to the vibe and mood pretty well. There's many tracks in smaller self-contained areas that surprised me, and were pleasant to listen to whilst matching the mood/tone very well, and might be some of my favourites. Act 3's ambient music I personally loved. Act 1 had this fitting unsettling edge, but I can tell it'll remain memorable. Combat music is great too.

DLC
The DLC - specifically Sanctuary of Sarras, was awesome. A lot of care went into it, it's dense, it's fun, and it was satisfying to play through and conclude before I went into Act 3 (it's available in early-mid Act 2).

There were some minor irks, mostly not worth noting. But the significant frustration I have is that the talent trees associated with the DLC remain ACTIVE when you finish it, but are INACCESSIBLE, so you're screwed if you don't allocate your points to one of the 3 trees that you can switch between beforehand, and you aren't able to switch around the tree (to my knowledge).

All in all
It certainly felt like this game was developed by a passionate and talented team. My expectations going in were pretty low, but it exceeded them in pretty much every way. I think the team that developed this deserve success and I'm excited to see what they put out in future, especially in this genre.

It's worth a try.
Plus there's a demo, so you can try the beginning of the game for free anyways.

Played with my girlfriend and we both enjoyed it a lot. Very fun and enjoyable with a friend/partner, creative design, and some trippy moments later on! Takes inspiration from different games & genres with little easter eggs here and there too. Also a good difficulty (not too much) when it comes to boss fights and certain pair/puzzle mechanics that also keep you engaged with each other.

Plus, only one of you having to own the game is awesome, and feels fair given the collective/shared playtime (~14 hours for us)

Wow.

This game exceeded my expectations - The most fun co-op experience I've had in many years of gaming. If you're thinking about buying this and haven't yet - just do it.

The game can get frustrating sometimes in regards to difficulty, but it just requires you to strategize and examine your enemies weaknesses & resistances.

Will definitely be visiting the first game after playing this.

Truly some epic & satisfying moments (Lohse's ending - just sayin')

Good job Larian!

Extremely fun, tense, and strategic experience. Just doing 1v1s with a friend we were both laughing and enjoying the **** out of this game.

Sometimes it's funny just to watch the clusterf*ck when people run into each other and start panick-shooting.

Highly recommended if you have friends to play with - You'll have a blast.
