I've been playing Riichi City prior to the launch on Steam. When I first switched games from Mahjong Soul, I had these initial thoughts.

+All in-game voice lines are automatically available. Compared to Majsoul that only granted voice lines at lvl 5 bond. It's a nice QOL change,
+Very F2P friendly! Decorations are given out fairly regulary, and f2p gacha pulls are generous. You can get 1 gacha pull for 6/7 daily logins in a week. Then another gacha pull for completing enough daily missions in a week. (Gacha rates are the same: 5% Characters, 15% decorations)
+Placement-based ranking system. Gaining rank points is simply based on what placement you get (1st-4th). This is compared to Majsoul that factors in score (Dominating big wins and negative score losses factor in more to your rating).
+Official tournament mode is a nice spin on the game. It places a lot of emphasis on winning a hand. You can get another gacha pull for winning a full 32p tournament.

-Lack of characters. It's bound to happen with a newer game and will definitely change over time.
-Smaller playerbase means slightly longer queue times, but even in Moon room you still get matched in about a minute. I imagine the goal of the Steam launch was to help grow the game more.

Overall, worth trying! If you already play Majsoul, consider giving this game a shot anyways! There's a challenge where you get a title for reaching 4th dan quickly (within 100 games for 4p, 150 games for 3p). Good luck!
