A Fantastic game with a huge missed opproutuhnity

Arc Raiders is an excellent casual extraction shooter MMO in terms of its mechanics. One of my favorite aspects is the balanced threat level between in-game enemies and raiders. Embark’s matchmaking system, which places players in matches based on their behavior towards others, is also a standout feature. The gameplay loop of looting buildings, hunting ARC, and fighting alongside fellow raiders is endlessly engaging. The movement feels fantastic, the gunplay isn’t overly complex, and the game’s forgiving nature prevents rage quitting.

However, the game misses a significant opportunity by not having a meaningful experience when engaging in its story. The AI dialogue makes everything feel monotonous and bland. I love the visual style, cinematography, choreography, and overall lore of the game. I’m eager to always learn more, but every time a character speaks, the charm is lost. The lack of cadence and emotion in the verbal dialogue pulls you out of the immersion and ruins the experience. Fellow raiders are the only kind of dialogue that keeps me invested, but that relies on players who choose to speak to one another.

I’ll continue to give this game a negative rating and only recommend it to those interested in a casual extraction shooter. If you’re looking for a game with a serious story, you’ll have to rely on Embark to changing their ways and having their voice actors deliver genuine, emotion-driven lines that complement the lore they’ve created. Unless, of course, that was also AI-generated…

Please change your ways Embark and give this game's story the voice performance it truly deserves.

I typically wait until I have 100+ hours to review a game this big, but Arrowhead gets an exception for literally standing by their community and overruling their publisher's executive decisions.
