For a team of just two on a project that's very obviously early days, the potential for Vein is very clearly there. Between this and the constant communication from the team, these are probably the two most important aspects for a game at this stage of development. Highly recommend supporting this project if you're interested in zombie-survival games, just keep in mind it has a long road ahead!

If you're looking for the closest you can get to a realistic zombie-survival game, here it is, and it's getting better all the time. Also feels like 'The Sims: Zombie-Apocalypse' at times, so take that as you will.

Another game where losing is fun: This is how you died.

New (1.0):
TL;DR: The game feels better at all stages of the game. Highly recommend in it's current state.

The early game feels more complete now, rather than an afterthought meant to be sped past. Progression is slower and more fluid overall, which feels really good. Zombies have the right balance of intelligence. Design has definitely moved toward more cinematic gameplay. POI's feel more complete and real, and are scripted to definitely give a horror atmosphere. Armor/clothing has been simplified and stylized. Crafting feels at a good medium, not overly complex but not too dumbed down.

Old:
To really give an accurate review of this game is... difficult. The overall feel and balance of the game changes dramatically with every major patch.

A15 - Improving skills was pure grind. Zombies were to be avoided, only fought when necessary.
A16 - Improving skills was level-based. Zombies gave XP and loot, and were farmed mercilessly. Underground bases were impenetrable.
A17 - Skills? What are skills? Perks are King. Zombies are the ONLY XP, but rarely give loot. Crafting nerfed into oblivion. Underground bases are an elaborate form of suicide. Killer-Looter style is the only viable way to play.:
A18 - Hopes were well-deserved, as I (a Crafter/Builder main) no longer feel like a disowned member of the family.
A19- Really starting to feel like a stable game now. Gameplay changes haven't been too jarringly changed in awhile, and the overall feel versus A18 is just a lot more polish and performance improvement.

Usually I'm not a fan of visual novels that don't give you any real choices.

Crystal City earned an exception to that rule.

The story keeps drawing you in and surprising you at the turns it makes. It's short (I beat it in under 3 hours, all achievements in under 4), but well worth the money and time. The nude scenes (by default) aren't excessive, and play a real role in the story, rather than just feeling shoved in there for sales. The minigames (there are 2) are fun and even challenging (I spent ~30-40min just on the second, hidden minigame).

I look forward to future releases, 7DOTS!

Tried this game out during a Free Weekend event. I wasn't sure what to expect.

I fell in love with it immediately.

A fun strategy game with an economic theme, it's simple enough to grasp the basics quickly and complex enough (with increasing difficulties) to keep your interest over a protracted period. And at a $20 price tag, I think it's well worth the money.

To play the devil's advocate, I have to say some more faction customization would be nice, as well as some added customization of your CEO.

I don't think I can express enough how much I absolutely love this game. I've been playing games from Sid Meier since the beginning, from the original Civilization (played on a Commodore 64) to now. And I still love them all.

At first I was unsure about the "unstacking armies" situation, but after playing I completely agree with the change. The stacked armies of the past were really OP and unrealistic, whereas the current setup makes you have to carefully move and strike with your armies.

The hexagonal map is an amazing idea. I've seen it used in pen-and-paper role-playing in the past, and enjoyed it there, so it really had me excited for this game, even before it was released.

My only complaint is the lack of modded multiplayer. That was a key PRO to Civilization IV, and I really miss it.

So overall: 9/10. Would be 10/10 if they would patch in Mod Support for Multiplayer.

I think this game is great, for it's price. Definitely worth the $3. The value is in the replay, not just one run-through.

I think I would certainly enjoy a detailed tavern simulation, but I wouldn't have known that until I tried Tavernier. I actually would hesitate to call Tavernier a simulation, as it's really an adventure game, from the perspective of a tavernier. Dialogue and Story are the primary facets of this game, and they are implemented very well.

If I was to say anything is lacking, it's only that I want more. I know the developers have said more content will be coming to FURTHER increase replayability (which is AWESOME!). But what I'm craving (and other players as well, from some comments) is more of everything, story and all. Perhaps the developers will think of releasing a "Chapter 2"?
