Coming from someone who has spent hundreds of hours in Hollow Knight, this game is fantastic. It's an improvement over HK in almost every way (music, movement, diversity of attacks, map size, and visual polish). I did run into a couple of movement/dialogue bugs, but that's to be somewhat expected this soon after release.

The main (and really only) critique I have is the difficulty. For someone who has done Path of Pain and done up to Pantheon 4 with all bindings in HK, the difficulty was perfect for me. The same cannot be said of many others however, and I wish there was a way to adjust the difficulty to allow a broader range of players to enjoy the game as much as I did (be it via accessibility settings, less damage to the player, slower boss attacks, whatever).

Regardless, the game was well worth the wait and I'm excited to see what comes from Team Cherry in the future. HK used to be my favorite game of all time, but Silksong might soon take its place.

cool idea, but I couldn't figure out what to do when the first portal opened

Beautiful game, beautiful soundtrack, very nice to play casually (the full backtracking support is a huge bonus) even though I'm not normally into platformers. Only have one playthrough right now, but am certainly planning on playing some more.
