Yes you don't get the cool 50 default songs anymore.
Yes its a bit of a hassle to configure.
Yes it isn't a perfect 100% accurate tracking machine.
but 500 hours is 500 hours.

i really can't see a better option for learning guitar. You get the basics. Scales, Chords. The whole nine yards. Advanced techniques. Tapping. Proper bends levels. you get one of if not the greatest introduction tools for learning guitar and or bass. All for $10. Ubisoft may not have many wins recently but bringing this back with no licensing issues if one of the biggest Wins they have had. 1 and done purchase and own forever.

Was great near 20 years ago and is still great now. Steep price but honestly worth.

What's good.
Same old rocksmith. now working less buggy on modern systems. As someone with both Rocksmith and Rocksmith 2014 i can say some times they are just a hassle to get working some times. has it changed here? not sure. it just came out.

What looks like a wide selection of songs at start. That is good. variety is the spice of life.

Accuracy. Tracks as well maybe a bit better than 2014. Should be fine for anyone wishing to learn.

MIDI/Keyboard support. While i don't do that myself it seems great. Its like Synthesia and rocksmith 2014 fusion.

Inbuilt Mod? Custom songs seem like they are viable (as long as you are the owner of the Cover/song and can transcribe.
(im not sure if modded songs require a subscription.)

What's bad.
i am not spending $140 per year on something i made a 1 time purchase for $30 and keep forever. Hypothetically i get both these games day 1.
In 3 months 2014 is better value.
In a year i save over $100
In 10 years (delisting time) i save over a thousand dollars.

(but paid DLC?) i keep that. you don't get to keep anything with this.

without buying you seem to only get 4 demo songs.

(but demo is free?)
Yeah but tabs are easy to get. Songsterr. Ultimate tabs. just to name a couple.

Looking on those questionable sites a 2014 key At this time (june 7th) Sells fore about $120 USD. If you are serious about rocksmith. it is better to buy a key for 2014 and learn how to mod. its the same cost for 1 year but you keep forever.

While im sure the end product is good. i given my near 500 hours of Rocksmith gaming can't recommend in a good heart this subscription based model. And given Ubisofts most recent antics i can't support them given a good conscience.

If you like how if looks. the features and you don't mind forking over $140 what looks like freedom bucks? Go for it. My experience with 2014 was and still is great.

If you don't like the ownership issues. the subscription model or Ubisoft as a whole? Don't bother. This is a refined piece of software but alteritives exist.
